There is only one true way out of Marine Corps Boot Camp. That is to walk across the parade deck with your head held high, and graduate a Marine. Otherwise there are consequences to deal with. i.e. Other Then Honorable Discharges, or General Under Honorable Conditions.

During the Vietnam War tattoos were generally prohibited for all US military officers and were HIGHLY frowned upon for any enlisted man.

Since, during those times, mostly prison inmates and sailors had tattoos on their bodies...any man having tattoos indicating "kill markings" would quite possibly have been drummed out of the service as an un-desirable person.

It is a code on your DD214 that tells someone able to read the codes whether you were honorably discharged or type of discharge you earned.

Vietnam Veterans can only use exchange facilities if they are retired from military service, medically retired, or VA 100% disabled.

An exception would be a Vietnam Vet who is authorized due to current reserve or active duty status or dependent status.

I have a non-service connected compensated pension. If this is what you have you are fine. That income is completely protected and cannot be seized in a judgement. Your social security may still be in jeopardy however I am not well versed in it

Yes, my uncle, Bert Allen , was in the Battle of the Bulge. Uncle Bert is 93 years old, his health is pretty good but his memory is not the best. There is a website called Friends_of_US_2nd_Infantry_Division_WWII. There are quite a few gentlemen still living that fought during the Battle of the Bulge. You can ask them anything and they are still as sharp as a tack. Some still take annual visits back to the Normandy beaches. My father fought with the Second Indianhead Division, that's how I stumbled on the site. It's great. I typed in that address but they said it was wrong and i didn't come up with anything

Perhaps, go to your nearest VA facility and ask the help desk personnel for the paperwork you need to fill out in order to obtain VA medical assistance, otherwise you can apply for a non-service connected pension, a disability rating due to miltary service, and some hospitals offer rehab, group therapy, individual therapy, and programs/shelter for homeless vets that are men.
