Where is the iat sensor on a 1995 Volvo 940 turbo?

I have never seen an IAT on a turbo 940. Turbos use a Bosh EH injection system. They have a Air Mass sensor in the intake hose neer the air filter. The Bendix Rigina system used only on many non turbo 940s has an Intake Air Temp sensor in the same location. The IAT is much smaller (about the size of your thumb), cheeper and more reliable.

The plug is on the rear side near the bottom of the transmission pan, the filter is inside that pan and is a great thing to have a tranny shop do every 20,000 miles for about 40.00 dollars not that much fun to do while laying under the car and trying to get the filler tube back on without stripping the threads

1993 Volvo 940 fuel gauge not working Repair method?

You should first test the fuel gauge sender unit for a fault with a multimeter. The sender connector is normally located in the left hand pullout section in the trunk or cargo area. There are different resistance values for various tank levels. A reading of infinity or intermittent infinity ohms suggests a faulty sender. If the sender is bad you will have to replace it (it is located in the fuel tank). If the sender is working check the harness connector for corrosion. If the connections are good suspect the gauge. The gauge has dry soldered joints and you will have to remove the gauge to investigate. The printed circuit connections may be loose or corroded.

How long can a Volvo engine last if serviced properly?

Mine previously 740 (1985) was never server properly. Previous owner always offered his car for service by 'a one mechanic garage' In 1997 the car had 240.000 kms and I became the new owner and I continued the service attitude of the prevous owner. The car WA put on LPG at that time (but without replacing the head). With 415.000 kms a new head was required but it was to expensive to replace the head. The car was swapped for a 940 and I presume that was the end of the 740 (I presume).

The new 940 (build 1992, bought 2001) had 250.000 kms and was on LPG from the beginning. It was propered serviced by Serva Volvo in Soest. In 2007 with 490.000 kms I bougt a newer 940 with 250.000 kms on it. The old car became the car of mine wife but she likes to have a smaller one. Now with 502.000 kms we are looking for a new owner for it.

The latest 940 (1998) was a LPG car too and will ride for years.

This car is serviced by the same official Volvo dealer and I must admit that this is done much better that any local garagist can do it.

But even with lesser professional service a Volvo 700/900 must be able to make 500.000.

I don't know. I have tried to find out but I bump into something first and my insurrance company totals the car due to high milage.

Where is the factory amplifier located on your 1993 Volvo 940?

Near the steering column above the drivers feet. look for a 2 x3 x 6 black box with silver fins (heat Sinks). When it goes completely the only speakers that work are the little ones on the dash.

Note!

  • There are two "Radio" fuses. One for the radio and another for the amp.
  • The amp does not turn off with the radio. It stays on until the key is shut off.

Where is overdrive relay on 94 Volvo 940?

it should be behind the ash tray in the fuse box that is located there.

Why would a Volvo 940 estate splutter then cut out?

Quite often this is an indication of a worn in-tank fuel pump. Fortunately these are easier to access on the wagon than on the sedan. If this happens primarily when the fuel tank is less than 1/3rd full, and when turning a corner, these are the indication symptoms.

The fuel system is fairly complex, and you can work on it yourself, but someone who knows their way around the car will likely do a good job.

If you let this problem go too long, the main fuel pump can get starved, and burn up. It is not intended that the main pump run dry. Good luck.

Where is the heater core on a Volvo 940?

If you're referring to the blower motor:

On my 1992 940GL it was located under the glove box tucked in the back right corner. You will need to remove the bottom plastic piece that is farthest to the front of the passenger's side (where their legs are). It is held in with cheap plastic screws so be gentle. Then, loosen the plastic molding on the right side (it should be protruding) and inside you will find the ECU. Remove the ECU mounting bracket (Disconnect the battery just to be safe). Tucked away to the front right you should see the blower motor. You may have to awkwardly lie on your back to see it. It should be held in with three (hex?) screws, the rear one being a pain to get to. Remove the wiring connctor from the motor , unscrew and remove. Best of luck....

How do you know what kind of oxygen sensor needed for a 1994 940 Volvo 4-cylinder non turbo?

I just bought this exact vehicle last week and ordered a Beck/Arnley oxygen sensor on eBay for $20 bucks.

Bosch may be the best brand sensor (also called O2 sensor) but you'll be paying a lot more. NGK is another brand. My 940 will not be getting many miles per year, so I went cheaper.
