The Volvo S80 normally requires 7.3 quarts of oil; however I suggest adding 7 quarts of oil first, and then check the level.

Use a large pair of Channel-lock pliers, or a plumbers 'basin pliers'. These are what I always use to remove oil filters. If it's too firm for them, you may have to wedge a large screwdriver right through the filter to twist it - I've had to do that a few times when people put their filter on with a wrench.

You have to remove the balancer from the crank pulley. There are 4 13mm bolts holding it on. The easiest way is to remove the tire and inner fender tub.

There are no spark plug wires. Each spark plug has its own coil and the spark plug attaches to the coil directly. To access the coil and plug, you need to remove the black plate on the top center of the engine (4-6 torx screws, I believe).

1. Remove Headlight wipers, (nut) accssible by lifting the cap at the shaft. 2. remove blind rivets at inner fenders to Bumper 3. Remove bolt (2ea) hidden behind the bumper rubber boots at each headligt. 4. Remove Bolts (2 ea) under plastic covers in the bumper, 5. Pop out the direction lights (see owners manual). 6. Remove the plastic punch in rivets at the top of the grille under the hood. 7. Remove the side position lights in the bumper, (click in fittings) 8. Pull out the bumper, like a drawer, just enough. 9. Remove the headlight, bolted and now easy accessed. Thats all folks

My wife had a stone crack her outer glass envelope, and I was going to attempt to replace this by itself, but it's very hard to get just this part in North America. I managed to do so through an excellent local shop, but when I went to replace the glass, I gave up after trying to figure out how to get the old one off. I ended up taking it to a Rousch employee and he told me he had to take the bumper cover off (screws on the bottom) just to be able to get at other screws that needed to be taken off. He said it was quite involved.

I just changed my headlight and sidelight assembly today. It wasnt very hard it took my friend about a half an hour. The whole thing pops out after a little wiggleing but there are side screws that are difficult to reach. we popped out the side reflector in order to reach one and just popped it back in when we finished. Anyone that has worked on car can figure this one out by looking at it. Just remember that your smaller side light sits in the assembly also and will have to be unhooked also.

I have taken my Volvo to the Volvo repair shop 3 times for this. First they told me they were required to Lube the latch. Next they were instructed to replace the latch. Then this flowed over to the next year when the cold weather arrived again... This time they are replacing the latch again. The problem exists only on my driver door and occured only after a winter rain or after driving on wet raods. Seems to me water is somehow infultrating only this door. I pick the car up today so we will see if the new latch works but I fear I won't know now until next winter! They tell me there is a service bulletin on this condition from Volvo. The door latch will work if the car runs long enough and the heater thaws the mechanism out. You may have to drive 4-5 miles holding the door closed as I have till thawing occurs. VERY ANOYING!!!

There is a plastic plug up by the license plate lights, pop it off and there's a regular lock that one of your keys will fit to open the trunk. I have two keys for my car and one will work and the other won't. Probably one is a valet key that just works in the ignition and not the glove box or trunk.

You must first remove the plastic skid plate covering the bottom of the engine, like 6-8 bolts. Once that plate is removed the oil plug is easy to identify but if not it is on the aft side of the oil pan offset to the passenger side of vehicle.
