A search engines' job is to find content on the Internet matching the search term entered into the search frame on the search engine. Ideally, the search results should be the best matches for the keyword, (search term) used by the user, based solely on an algorithm used by that search engine to provide the best results for that search term. While fresh content is considered by most search engines, they do not use last update, or date written as a search criteria.

I have gotten a virus after using websites. Some helpful tips include:

• Be aware of the web extension - a 2 letter extension indicates a country abbreviation - be aware of using webs originating in countries where spam, viruses, and hacking are well known problems
• Read reputable web forums about computing. They often post warnings about particular problems in countries where spam, viruses, and hacking are well known.
• Use well-known websites with high reputations.
• Avoid clicking on Advertisements or Links for websites you do not know.
• If an Ad or Link looks interesting, Google the Company's Name to see if other users posted in forums about problems.
• Use a good Antivirus Program. Many FREE programs have surfing protection that will alert you to Sites that might harm your computer. One good Free AV is AVG -- research it and decide.
• Do NOT open or click links in Email, even from Friends.
• Avoid clicking on Video Links from email. Go to youtube directly and search for the video.
• Be cautious about what you download.
• Know which file extensions are executable - which ones execute action - on your computer. Avoid exe file extensions.
• Run antivirus on anything you download, even pictures, songs, videos, Word and other text files.
• Run antivirus every week, and keep it updated.
• Malawarebytes (free) deletes malware and spyware.
• Spybot Search and Destroy (Free) also finds malware and spyware.
• Be proactive to keep your computer and web surfing free from viruses, malware, and spyware.
• If your computer 'catches' a virus, don't ignore it. Fix it quickly.

The answer has to do with the way content is interpreted by the browser.

Simple answer:

The HTML content of the page is stored as text. Images are easily stored as separate binary files. The browser is software that takes code and process it to display a more human friendly version on screen. As the browser finds a reference to an image in the HTML code it downloads it, then places it in the page per the HTML instructions.

Longer answer:

To make it easier for web programmers to design sites, the HTML code of a webpage is written in plain language, or text. To use other content on the same page, lines of code are written that reference other files. since they are text files, they must be converted to and from binary to transmit them over the internet.

Images have a level of compression or data structure applied to them, so they are more easily stored as binary files. there is no translation that occurs as they are transmitted online.

Computers run through code character by character, line by line and run functions when certain instructions are read. Once the browser sees an tag it knows the current page is referencing an image so it downloads it.

There are two reason I can that of why images are transmitted as separate requests:

* Images can be stored on different web servers, so sending one large binary stream would require one server to assemble all of the data then transmit it to the user (quite a waste to transmit the same file data twice.)

* Because images can be in different formats, using different compressions (jpeg, gif, png). Each image is transmitted separately so as not to cause problems. Addendum:

HTTP/1.1 protocol allows a browser to download all items in the same connection (so long as the connection is to the same server). This means at connection level there is only one request but at protocol level there are still multiple requests being passed through the one connexion.

What are the main parts of a web browser

Browsers are software programs that allow you to search and view the many different kinds of information that's available on the World Wide Web. The information could be web sites, video or audio information.

The following list explains the various parts that make up a web browser and an explanation of their purpose.

Status Bar:

You will find the status bar at the very bottom of your browser window. It basically tells you what you are doing at the moment. Mainly, it shows you load speed and the URL address of whatever your mouse is hovering over.

Address Bar:

You will find this bar at the top of your browser window and its purpose is to show you the whole URL or web site address.

Title Bar:

You will find this bar at the absolute top of your browser and in will be the colour blue for the major browsers. The purpose of the Title bar is to display the title of the web page that you are currently viewing.

Toolbar Icons:

You will find the Toolbar directly under the Title Bar. The Toolbar is where you will find the back button, home button and the refresh button etc.

Display Window:

The Display window is the space in which you view this website right now.

Scroll Bars:

The Scroll bars, usually located to the right of the Display Window, allows you to "scroll" (move down or up the web page) so you can view information that is below or above what is currently in the Display Window.
