Well, unless you are a mechanic or an advanced hobby mechanic, I would not attempt it. I have done it along with a partial overhaul. The water pump is located inside the timing chain cover. It requires complete removal of the entire intake system including intake manifolds, removal of the oil pan which includes removing the entire steering system and the front differential just to get to the timing chain cover. Then you get to remove the radiator, fan, power steering pump, and crankshaft pully so you can remove the cover. Once off, you can easily remove the water pump. The job basically requires a complete upper and lower tear down. If you are going to do it, I would strongly recomend doing an overhaul while you are at it (with the exception of messing with the heads and pistons, since that is the only thing left once you get in there). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I wanted to share my pain before someone else got into it. I did complete the job and the car runs nearly new, but it is not a job for the weekend mechanic. I am not a professional, but I consider myself quite advanced and rebuild old motorcycles and cars as a hobby since I was 12, my uncle was a drag racer. Good Luck Scott
To replace a front turn signal bulb on a Suzuki, refer to the owner manual for instruction. The manual gives diagrams, and instruction to the owner about the vehicle.
You will need to loosen the tensioner pulley in order to create slack in the serpentine belt. The belt will come off with the tensioner pulley loose. Reverse the process to install the new serpentine belt.
The license plate light bulb in a 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara can be accessed and changed through the rear cargo area. A portion of the rear door panel will have to be removed. There is a small rectangle that can be popped out by using a screwdriver that is in the middle bottom of the door.
Yes, the curve ball curves. This is because of the way the ball is thrown, which is a kind of a spin/jerky fast motion.
This would be located near the engine. It allows for you to know when the engine is getting too hot or you need to take care of it.
There are two fuse boxes on this vehicle.
The Passenger compartment fuse box is located at the lower right kick panel on the passenger side near the floor board. (Basically right where the passengers right foot would res ton the floor.)
The Engine Compartment fuse box or Central Junction Box is located near the right fender. ( Facing the vehicle it would be a black box with a snap lid on the left hand side of the engine.)
Behind the left cover under the seat.
Fuse box is black rectangle.
If there is no power on your S83 / VS 1400, try just replacing the main fuse.
Sometimes the 25 Amp fuse looks OK, BUT, in fact it is not.
I have had it that all is dead, struggled my *ss off trying to find a fault.
My brother suggested just replacing main fuse, as he experienced in on a car.
BOOM! fixed!

egr solenoid is the most common problem. The EGR Solenoid has a vacuum hose at the top running from the EGR Valve and one vacuum hose that connects to the upper intake manifold. The solenoid is brown in color. Try replacing all of the vacuum hoses before anything first for only 3.00 this could fix your problem as well. (you have a vacuum diagram on your hood)
I own a 2002 XL-7 and the low pressure side is located behind the front grill, next to the right headlight.
You need to purchase the tool for removing the O2 sensor. It's a socket that has a slit down the side for the O2 sensor cable. This will cost you about 20-30$. The 02 sensor will un-screw with a socket wrench. Best done when car is cold. Otherwise you will burn your hands.
Good luck.
I bought a new vitara in 1988 and almost nothing every went wrong with it, through to now, that's 20 years later. I had to change the clutch once and of course the battery, tyres etc a few times. That's in 235000 kilometres. I don't want to sell it now, it starts like brand new every time, but I bought a grand vitara XL-7, and have too many cars and bikes now.
Suzuki is bloody fantastic. If you don't want trouble and grief and costs in motoring, I don't think any other manufacturer is as good.... period. +++++ Different Owner +++++++ I have a 2001 Grand Vitera XL7 and I've never had to do anything but regular maintanence. Since I drive for work and my Suzuki was up to 130K+ miles, I purchased a 2008 Toyota RAV4 last summer. I HATE the new RAV compared to my old Suzuki!
