How do you stop the alarm going off on a citroen xantia having just replaced the battery after charging it?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To disarm the alarm without the remote control, just incase your remote/blip key doesn't work:

- unlock the doors with the key and enter the vehicle (this will start the alarm off)

- within 10 seconds of the alarm sounding, press and hold the ultrasonics override switch (to the right of the steering wheel) whilst turning on the ignition.

If necessary, repeat the procedure if the siren restarts (after 30 seconds)

I have to do this each time I disconnect and reconnect the battery.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To reconnect a disconnected battery without the alarm going off, simply put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "ignition on" position. Then connect your battery . Dead easy and peaceful too! Oh! remember to remove your keys before you forget where you put them!!

Is the Citroen Xantia related to the Peugeot 406?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes very much so. They are built on the same chassis and share the same engines and parts etc. The main difference is that the Xantia employs Hydractive suspension (which provides an extremely smooth ride and eliminates body roll) whereas the 406 uses conventional parabolic springs.

Listen for a "click" when the pre-warm lamp light goes out. After the lights gone out, wait about 5 secs before turning the key. Could also be a blocked fuel filter, and check that you glow plugs are in tight enogh or diesel will need to prime every time you start it. Also battery condition!

How do you change front brakes on citroen xantia?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's really quite easy to replace disc pads, get hold of the Haynes manual from your local library or Auto store/bookshop, digest the procedure and then follow it carefully. You may need to replace the discs as well as the pads but this is also quite straight forward. Make an inspection before you buy any parts and check you have all the tools and parts you need before you start othewise the car may be off the road for more than a day.

Can your citreon xantia run on vegie oil?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The answer should be yes, but there are concerns over the fuel pipes and fuel pump in certain engines - in general the fuel pipes are supposed to be degraded by the extra dissolving power of biodiesel, and the same with the fuel pumps - but only if its the lucas fuel pump, if its the bosch pump then it should be ok.

Straight veggie oil, as far as i have heard, will run the engine ok - some people suggest adding a SMALL amount of petrol to assist starting - be careful if you do this - seek proper advice - there is plenty out on the web!
