Spain was involved with the Aztecs, specifically Hernando Cortes.

The Aztecs are a tribe in Mexico, who supposably found the cocoa bean and made chcocolate. They had different beliefs and they made large temples. Their decedents are the Mexicans.

I believe the cortez and his men could have easily been destroyed and overcome by the sheer numbers of aztecs as compared to spanish, irregardless of the spanish advantage of horses and gun powder. However, due to the greed of men for wealth, and the aztec technological disadvantage, history would have only been delayed, as the aztec were a wealthy and yet technologically weak society. Similar to modern day oil rich Iraq compared to America. As they say, history repeats itself.7

The Inca civilization was in South America along the western edge. Pizarro defeated it after promising friendship and attacking. He held the emperor Atahualpa hostage and demanded ransom for his release. When he had enough money, he killed the emperor anyway. The Aztec civilization was in Mexico (North America). They settled where a eagle preyed on a snake. They sacrificed humans to their god to give him energy (crazy). The Maya lived in North america also, just above the Aztecs.

The Aztecs worshiped many hundreds of gods but mainly the sun god, Huitzilopochtli who was the patron deity of Tenochtitlan. Another major deity was the feathered serpent known as Quetzalcoatl who was the equivalent of the Mayan Kukulkan. The creator father God was called Ometeotl, not as widely prayed to but may be the equivalent of Zeus, Jupiter or Odin. Other dieties included Xipe Totec who was the flayed one, his priest wore the flayed skin of a sacrificial victim in his honour.

It effected Spain all right. They had gained control of one of mexicos most powerful sociatys. They had more land, lots of gold had been gained the Aztects being put as slaves in the gold mines and almost all of their culture destroyed by Spanish Missonarys...
