British Columbia has no true deserts. It has a small area of steppe that it calls a desert but that is an exaggeration.

A biome is a complex interaction of plants and animals of a specific location. The alpine biome is at an altitude of 10,000 feet or more. It is a cold and harsh place to live. There are perennial sunflowers (Hymenoxys grandiflora) that have adapted to these conditions and grow during the summer (June through October) in the heatwave of 10-15F. These sunflowers look more like large-headed yellow daisies than the typical common annual sunflower which is cold sensitive.

Icebergs are primarily freshwater. Icebergs form as a result of two main processes. The first is that it freezes slow enough that it forms ice which doesn't have room for salt inclusions. Another way is that they are broken off from a land based ice sheet.

Trees are a natural cover against heavy rain and general water. However, when these trees are taken away, the soil gets the brute force of the rain without cover. Furthermore, when there is a flood or there is excess rain, the plants can't take in this water, and the soil has to soak it all up. When the water can't be soaked up, it sits on the soil, reducing its fertility and more importantly causing soil erosion. I hope I helped.
