Why is Dover Delaware's state capital?
The Delaware State Capitol is the state capitol building of the U.S. state of Delaware, housing the state's General Assembly. Commonly known as the Legislative Hall, it is located in the state capital of Dover on Court Street. Despite its colonial appearance, the building was actually completed in 1933 during the Great Depression.

Delaware's Old State House is now a museum and is located on The Green in downtown Dover. The state continued to use the building until 1933, when the General Assembly moved to Legislative Hall.[1]
The Old State House has been restored to an 18th-century appearance, and includes a courtroom and the former chambers of the state's legislature. The House chamber contains portraits by Thomas Sully of Commodore Jacob Jones and Commodore Thomas Macdonough, Delaware heroes who served in the War of 1812.
