Have been molding boys into splendid clear-thinking young men?

This line appears in the novel 'Catcher in the Rye' by J D Salinger. The novel's anti-hero Holden Caulfied quotes this line from his college prospectus as an example of the self-satisfied pretensions of the college he attends (and hates). He comments, I think, that if there really are any splendid, clear thinking young men at his college, then they probably came to the college that way - and certainly weren't molded into it by the college.

Hope this is of help

If you want to find the quotation I think it would probably appear in the first third of the novel.

What is binge drinking?

When a lot of alcohol is consumed in one session.

Binge drinking is periodic drinking (on weekends, for instance) for the express purpose of getting drunk. It is a form of drug abuse, and often leads to further abuse and eventual addiction.

What is now being called 'binge drinking' has been going on for decades and is certainly not new. People just used to call it getting drunk. What is more common nowadays is the violence that accompanies drinking and this is what has brought it to prominence.

The reasons for for it could be debated forever and here are some views.

Lack of respect, including self respect, among the groups reposible.

Availability of alcohol

Peer pressure

Poor education and ignorance of the effects

Lack of effective treatment or punishment

There are many more and I sure other people will have different viewpoints

How do you get your book considered for an oprahs book club book?

I would like to contribute for discussion and answer how to get my book submitted to Oprah's book club. I have taken a quiz on the net and my points added up concerning TV spots, newspaper articiles, and notoriety to the public at large. My book is considered historical fiction/romance and is based on family members just prior to the Civil War and I have been told by my publisher that the best quality of my books are the characters who become alive and real. Once you are introduced to them, you do not want to leave them. Therefore, it has become a four book series that is being considered for Television miniseries. If I could find an open door I would walk through it and consider the books worthy of recognition as well as family entertainment and containing nothing vulgar or unseemly for the entire family. Thank you, Cheryl Loftice Gillman Published and available on every bookstore sight in all countries.

What can you do if you're addicted to gaming and you can't seem to stop?

Keep yourself busy doing other things. Make time with friends and family and as soon as you get home go to sleep. If you can make yourself go without it for a week, it will get easier. Everyday you go without it, it gets easier. Also, if you want to stop slower, you can let yourself play for an hour a week and set a timer, make sure you have something to do after that hour so you make sure to stop.

How do you get your boyfriend to stop doing drugs?

No one will quit doing anything they do not want to do. You cannot force someone. They have to want to quit and do it on their own. Tell him that studies show alcohol drinkers are killing themselves by drinking alcohol. Alcohol causes the brain to stop working, atleast certain parts of it. Tell him if he cares at all about you or himself to stop! * try and get him to a lively christian church where the pastor and the elders can lay- on- hands. Any committed Christian will tell you, you have to let God deal with the problem. The Holy Spirit moves in many pentecostal christian churches, some call them charismatic christian churches, or even the "happy-clappy" churches because of the joy in The Holy Ghost. You have to let Jesus deal with the problem because its as much a spirit/inner problem as anything else. When I invited Jesus Christ into my life, confessing my sin and receiving Him, the alcohol went out. Gods Got the Power that men dont! Your boyfriend needs to get to a deliverance ministry that will set him free. PS: there is no shame in going. Its certainly not unmanly to seek Gods help. Real men dont stand on their own and get dragged down into destruction. They go where Jesus can Help. A1.

Do non-smokers have the right to publicly hector a smoker if their smoking is bothersome in any way?

no you dont have the right to hector anyone does a smoker have the right to hector u for chewing gum or using chewing tobacco , or drinking different brand of pop, or driving a different vehicle to him you might annoy others just by breathing or slurping ya coffee If by "hectoring" you mean making comments, insults, etc., then of course you have that right, it is free expression. You do not have the right to threaten them or their property, that is assault. It's called "heckling" and NO IT ISN'T RIGHT! Heckling means to constantly demean the person smoking and that's just plain immature. If you have no smoking rules in your home, car or if there are no smoking laws in the office where you work then a smoker should be respectful and follow these rules. If you are on their turf then put up with it or move on. If you have a friend that smokes and want to leave the friendship simply because your friend smokes then you weren't much of a friend in the first place. There is nothing worse than a reformed smoker! If more non smokers would look at the entire air quality of where they live and quit blaming everything on the smoker (down to the boil on their butts) then this would be a better world as a whole.
