What is problem if I have put 3 new alternators and 2 new batteries in my 2003 BMW 325i and the car still dies within a day?

It a good idea to find out if these are all working ok before you start. A charging system test should tell you if the alternator is giving off the right amount of voltage. If this is ok then a battery test should done to ensure that this is all in order.

If all of this is fine then the only answer is that an item in the vehicle is still on. In the past i have found this is normally a light in the glove box or the one in the boot. This will result in the battery going flat when the vehicle is left over night.

All the best.

Simon.

Why new battery and alternator won't hold a charge when car is running?

The alternator does not hold a charge. It charges the battery. If it will not charge the battery then either the alternator is defective, battery is defective, or the connections are corroded or loose. You should read 13.5 to 15.5 volts at the battery with the engine idling. Check it with a DC volt meter. If you get less the alternator is defective. If you get much more the voltage regulator is defective.

How much does it cost to replace an alternator on a 2002 Saturn Vue?

again more info would be helpful. is it a 4cyl or the 6cyl. do you plan on doing the work yourself or a garage. in which case you can get your own parts and take them and save some money but they may charge something go some place else. and check your belt you may need that change if you see cracking. the belt is about 20 to 40 depending where you go, the alternator can be from 75 to 200 depending where you go. and if the shop gets the parts you can bet they will ad 25% to the price just to make some money. if you do it yourself buy a good tool set with at least 100 pieces to get enough tools to do most jobs. when changing the alternator remove the negative battery terminal first so you dont short anything and cost more money.

Where is the alternator on a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport?

If it's the same 3.0L engine they put in the 2001 Montero Sport, the alternator is (looking from the front of the engine into the bay) located on the left side of the motor, toward the radiator, down low. It's straight below the power steering pump. There should be a belt that runs from the crankshaft to the alternator. Good luck... I'm on my third in 3 months.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1999 Chevy S10 ZR2 4.3L V6?

Since no one responded, I did this one on my own. 1. Disconnect both battery terminals ( safety first ) 2. Use a 3/8 ratchet to disengage the serpentine belt tensioner and put some slack in the serpentine belt to remove from the alternator. Sounds worse than it is, but may require two people if you can't use two hands at once. 3. Once the belt is off, you can now start to remove the alternator. 4. There are three bolts - two on the front and one behind near the top of the unit. Note: there is also a bolt directly behind the alternator that holds what appears to be a ground wire from the battery. 5. Once the bolts are removed, I used a screwdriver to gently pry the alternator loose - no problems. 6. Turning the alternator so I can see the back of it, remove the electrical connector. 7. Using an open faced wrench and ratchet wrench, loosen the bolt holding the ground wire. This will look like a spark plug cover on the back, but it's just a bolt. REMOVAL DONE Now reverse the steps with the new unit and reassemble in that order. Starting the vehicle it ran a little sluggis as it took time for everything to reset, but after about a 20-30 minute drive, all was well and guage is happily back to 14 now. I ordered the part online for about 90 dollars with a core charge return of $16.00 Total time took me about an hour - ( I took my time ) If I had to do it again, it would take about 1/2 hour.

How do you install an alternator on a 93 Mitsubishi mighty max truck?

If you want to keep your radio stations they sell a plug for your cigarette lighter that holds a 9 volt battery, this will keep your stations and also your memory on your computer so it wont have to relearn its idle strategie after you reconnect your battery. Plug this in First, THEN disconnect your battery. Then loosen the top bolt on the alternator, remove all wires on the alternator, remove belt, remove completely the bottom bolt. Hold on to the alternator and remove the top bolt completely then remove alternator. Install in reverse procedure.
