To keep ants out of the points of a water pump it is a good idea to treat the ground the pump is sitting on with a herbicide that prevents ants. It is also a good idea to keep an ant trap near the pump or set the pump on a small table.

You do not need to consider the sex ratio for an ant population as the Queen ant creates all the eggs, which they hatch and become worker ants to feed the queen so the Queen can reproduce, if all the worker ants die, the Queen dies and no eggs are laid, so the sex ratio is not considered in an ant population.

Firstly, no chemical (especially pesticides) should be used for a purpose for which it was not intended.

Secondly, imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid. These products remain in the environment for years and are toxic to wildlife. They are mobile in water, can contaminate ground water (through run off into soil, drains, puddles etc), and remain in the soil for YEARS! Research has shown that when used to treat the soil, it continued to be taken up by plants even during years when it was not applied. Even the microscopic levels taken up by the plants were lethal to bees.

To get rid of ants, I recommend you research organic methods on the internet. You could also try boiling water, depending on where the ants are. If the ants are getting into your house (i once had this problem), spray a dilution of bleach on the surfaces. This cured my ants problem almost completely within a day. You may get an occasional ant coming in, but if you keep spraying for a while, you'll soon get NO ANTS - I don't get any now.

Neonicotinoids are highly toxic, and I wouldn't even use them in the garden, personally.

Neonicotinoids include imidacloprid acetimacloprid, clothianidin, thiacloprid, thiamethoxam, dinotefuran and nitenpyram. I avoid all of these.

You can also live off post. Yes, sometimes they can and you will have to ask your Superior about this. However, I do suggest you have her come on base so she can see where she will be living. Many women living "on base" really dislike it and some find it OK. Good luck Marcy

The use of AAV's sometimes called pro vents are illegal to use in the better plumbing codes as one would be kind of fool hardy to trut a spring and a piece of rubber to protect ones health.

Even the codes that do allow these garbage connectors do have certain requirements and restrictions.

A Vent through the roof is the best way to go and depending on weather conditions you may be required to use a 4" pipe to prevent hoarfrost

In some ways i would think that ants are blind because they have antennas and at the end of their antennas they do not look like they have little balls on the end of them so that is one of the reasons that i would think that ants would be blind. Another reason that i think that ants are blind is because they move out into they route that you are taking and they get stomped on. I would think that ants if they were blind they would be able to sense all the movement on the ground.
