I've read that some people make jewelry and sell them at hair and nail salons or tannig salons. Perhaps you can make a nice display stand that can be put into various businesses. I'd check with locally-owned stores where you can talk personally to the owners. See if they will sell your jewelry in their stores, first. That will give you a feel for the business and help you make connections you will be able to use later.
Getting a booth at a fair or festival is a good idea also, but you have to put up some money initially. Another good idea might be to try to have a "jewelry party", kind of like a tupperware party, but with your jewelry instead. You can make up order forms and small catalogs too. Good luck!

How can you take advantage of arts and crafts exhibitions for building public relations?
To promote your work through an arts and crafts exhibition (as opposed to a sellers fair)you need to provide a way to distribute your contact information. At the very least, this could be a box containing your business cards, for the visitors to take. Business cards that are attached to a writing pad, calendar, or magnet backing are the most likely to be effective. If you also have a nice brochure that illustrates your work, with your contact information on it, they should be placed in a container that is easy for visitors to access. Be sure to check with the rules of the exhibit, as some do not allow handouts. If that is the case, you could incorporate your contact information into an item that you wish to enter into the display, such as attaching your web address or phone number to the edge of your exhibit, or a poster in the back. If there is an exhibit catalog, you should be sure to make use of the space they give you to place your contact information, or purchase space if necessary. Depending on the type of exhibit, you might want to set up a greeting area, where you can meet the visitors and distribute your contact information in person.

What supplies are needed to exhibit at art and craft events?
Most of the craft shows I attend are outside, and therefore, my most cherished purchase was an easy to put up sun shade. I started out with one that had to be assembled, and it took me forever to set up.
The next most important thing is the wonderful plastic storage cartons you can now purchase. I use a standard moving cart to transport them. I usually pile the supply cartons up and place a table top across them. I stabilize them with bungee cords.
However, my merchandise is displayed by hanging strips of fabric from the bars of the sun shade, and attaching my work on the strips. The only thing I use the table for is my order catalogs.
Don't forget that most shows require the proper forms and paperwork, such as a seller's license, and tax re-sale number. Be sure to find out what all the rules are, since each show is different.
