To start with, you need graph paper. The best I have found is Shala's Beadworks. It's free. I recommend a pencil and an eraser. After you get your pattern the way you want it you can color it with colored pencils. I'm asuming that these are for delica beaded pictures. You can also sometimes find graphs in some of the beading magazines.
How do you make an animal keychain out of beads?
Its easy! Just make a laynard knot on a key ring with a cord or string at least 1 1/2 yards long. You can find a pattern for the animal online or make one up (I suggest that for beginners, don't choose one with legs, arms, or ears). For the first row of beads, string them on, and pull the end of the string through the beads. Keep going until you have finished the whole pattern row by row. Make sure that you are pulling through the end that is furthest from the key ring, or it won't work. When you are finished, Tie two knots at the end to secure the beads. How do you sew with hammer beads?
do you mean Hama Beads? It would depend on if you were attempting to sew them as single beads or as fused multibead creations.
The short answer is-- anything that has a hole in it can be sewn to fabric. as long as it's weight can be supported by the material you are using to 'sew' it with and the fabric you are sewing it to... you could sew up through fabric string the bead on your sewing material (thread or what have you), and then sew down through the fabric. You may need to make several stitches through heavier beads to secure them. You can also sew up through the hole in whatever item you are using and sew through a smaller bead and then back down through the larger hole (similarly to sewing on a sequin).
If you are attempting to sew fused items, sew through multiple holes in the item to secure it flat to the fabric.
It is often easiest to sew beads to fabric if it is under tension-- using either a hoop or a scroll frame is really handy, or you can staple it to a frame (which will support a lot more weight if you are doing a very heavy beading project).
