Fuse panel in trunk is accessed by removing 4 long plastic hex nuts located right in front of front edge of trunk lid. After removing these, lower fiberboard panel the nuts held in place and as it comes down the attached portion that slopes down the front interior of the trunk also comes down to reveal a fuse panel on the left side of the front panel which forms the structure supporting the seat back. This fuse block comes from the factory with a clear plastic cover which I could not find a way to release whole, so I cut it to remove it. Here you will find a whole set of fuses for various circuits, including the truck release/pulldown.

it is not really a chip. it is actually a resistor. you can buy one on eBay for about $5.00. look it up. i bought one, increases by 10 hp and shifts later, improving torque. tricks computer into thinking the air temp is about 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

To the best of my knowledge, no Deville has ever been equipped with a V6. The earliest that I know Devilles have been around is the 50's, and they all had V8's. Through the 60's and 70's they had all big-block V8's, the largest of which was 500 cubic inches. At some point, either late 70's or early 80's they switched to small blocks. By the mid 80's they were using a 4.1 liter small block, which was increased to 4.5 liters in 1988, and then 4.9 liters in 1991. Mid 90's they came out with the Northstar V8, which has remained largely unchanged, and is still being used in the Devilles now.

first take off the wood trim piece around the radio there will be 2 hex screws on top that need to be removed. next pull out the ash tray as far as possible and use the same hex screw driver to remove two screws from the bottom side. that should let you pull the radio out far enough to disconect the antenna and the plugs.Thats all.

Any good ground on the engine will do. Look for an unpainted surface or a bolt.

The computers on most cars will reset themselves after a short period of time. The codes will then go into history mode. Until the computer performs another test on the systems, you will not see the code again. It does not mean the problem is not there. For instance I have a faulty EGR valve on my Eldorado. It didn't fix itself but every once and a while the computer will test the system and the code will come up current.

Certain situations may arise where a false positive may occur but I would let the code come up again before addressing the problem. Finally have your mechanic look at the car when the code is active (if possible) because that is the best time to assess the problem.

Some shops have a tough time chasing down the reason for codes in the history of the computer.

This is easy, get under the hood of your car and unhook one cable on you battery. Leave it unhooked for a while, ( 2-3 min. ) Hook it back up, start the car and let it run for at least a min. because your computer has to relearn stuff on your engine, so when you let it run, don't drive it or give it any gas. You done, by doing this, you clear the computers memory on the car. Also works sometimes works for that "Check Engine" light.
