How does the alarm system on a 1977 Chevy Corvette work?

Answer

When turned on, by the door key in the left front fender or driver door lock, it will sound a horn alarm if the doors or hood are opened. The actual horn alarm is located either inside the driver side front or rear fender. Mine still works!

I removed the inside driver side door panel on my '77 and I found a wire burned apart laying in the bottom of the door. I spliced it back together and my alarm works again.

My alarm switch is in the drivers door key. Use the key to lock the car and it turns the system on.

Additionally, if you turn the system on and it trips right away, you have a short somewhere, most likely a bad door/hood/key switch.

Later C3s had a switch for each t-top, as criminals would either steal the tops or remove one and jump inside to hotwire the car without being noticed.

Why won't Rowley's dad's car alarm go off on wimpy wonderland island?

You need to beat the game first. After you do that then jumping on the hood should work.

How do you reset 2001 suburban alarm kill switch?

To reset the alarm kill switch on a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban, first ensure that the vehicle is in the "Off" position. Next, locate the alarm disable switch, typically found under the dashboard or near the steering column. Press and hold the switch for a few seconds, then release it. Finally, turn the ignition to "On" and start the vehicle to see if the alarm is reset. If issues persist, consult the owner's manual or a professional mechanic for further assistance.

How do you disable a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker Alarm?

I have a 1995 Chrysler New Yorker. The alarm used to be very annoying. If you have a remote control for the car, basically consider it your source of problems. I accidentally doused mine in water and haven't used it since. I would suggest you do the same.

Now, for starters, it's a good idea to remove the Horn Relay while you work on this, so you don't disturb your neighbors. I removed the horn relay and the system will flash lights and disable the engine crank for a while. I also disconnected the entire battery (very carefully) and came back. However, it still went off. So you just have to let it run its course with the battery plugged back up, the lights will flash and you'll hear the clicking sound inside the car, but it will eventually reset itself.

The only way you will be able to accidentally set off the alarm is by unlocking the door the wrong way from the passenger side. Again, if you continue to use the remote, you'll continue to have problems. Since I've lost the remote, the alarm has only gone off once in over a years time, as opposed to it going off constantly.
