Deactivating/activating the belt minder feature

Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding with the

deactivation/activation programming procedure.

The Belt Minder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the

following procedure:

Before following the procedure, make sure that:

² the parking brake is set

² the gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission).

² the ignition switch is in the OFF position

² all vehicle doors are closed

² the driver's safety belt is unbuckled

² the parklamps/headlamps are in OFF position (If vehicle is equipped

with Autolamps, this will not affect the procedure.)

To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt

Minder feature while driving the vehicle.

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT

START THE ENGINE)

2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1

minute)

² Steps 3--5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will

have to be repeated.

3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the

safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during Belt Minder

warning activation.

4. Turn on the parklamps/headlamps, turn off the parklamps/headlamps.

5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the

safety belt unbuckled.

² After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three

seconds.

6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off,

buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.

² This will disable Belt Minder if it is currently enabled, or enable Belt

Minder if it is currently disabled.

7. Confirmation of disabling Belt Minder is provided by flashing the

safety belt warning light four times per second for three seconds.

8. Confirmation of enabling Belt Minder is provided by flashing the safety

belt warning light four times per second for three seconds, followed by

three seconds with the safety belt warning light off, then followed by

flashing the safety belt warning light four times per second for three

seconds again.

9. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is

complete.

Where the competitors are not allowed

Pull the seat belt around you and buckle it up. The alarm will then go off. If the alarm stays on, take the car to your Chevy dealer for repair. This repair will be done under warranty.

The seat belt buzzer is there for a reason BUT if you really want to disable the buzzer it only takes a couple of seconds to reach under the drivers seat and JUST UNPLUG the wiring harness plug and guess what-- no more noise. Chevrolet put the buzzer there because of the law but it is up to you to do what is right.

If you only have the 1 key fob the programming must be done with a special Dodge tool (DRB), if you have 1 working fob and want to add a second you can do it yourself. With the key on but engine not running Press and hold the unlock button on the working fob for at least 4 seconds but not more than 10 seconds, within the 4-0 seconds press the panic button then release both buttons, the BCM should chime to let you know it is in programming mode, press any button on each fob to be programmed then turn the key off, if 4 fobs have been programmed it wouln't accept any more until erased by the dealer

Has to be disactivated with a drb 3. Your local Chrysler dealer can deactivate alarm. Although you may have to pay for labor time.

my 98 4runner alarm system does not seem to be working if i used the alarm to open the door it will not open

If a person uses a key to unlock an alarmed vehicle, the alarm can be turned off on the 2000 Honda Civic LX by starting the car and putting it in gear. Then, put the car in park and shut the car off. Start the car again and the alarm should go off.

The BCM Computer on the car is likely going out. Soon you'll find most of your instrument panel unoperative.

I had the same problem with my 2000 xterra and it turned out to be low battery voltage. Check your battery this is most likely your culprit.

To lock a Discovery 3 without setting the alarm via remote, you can use the key fob by pressing the lock button twice while holding the door handle.
