Yes it is possible. It can be a birth defect or inherited by a grand parent
No, but they sure are clever with their paws.
Or, alternatively, yes, but not opposable ones. That's why they have to use two paws to carry their food and sometimes drop it/have it snatched right off them.
How do you get rid of rat mites without hurting and killing the rat?
Bathe the rat with shampoo with the active ingredient pyrethrins, at no higher than 0.15%--check with your vet as to an appropriate brand.
Also disinfect the cage and surrounding area with bleach at least once a week. In addition, use fresh bedding that you have previously frozen overnight.
Is it possible for two brown mice to mate and have white mice offspring?
It could happen if the genes of the father or the mother have white in them. Its unlikely though.
What is good name for a male wolf?
My personal favorites are...
Cliff-Twig-Branch-Rowan-Buck-Dire-Finch-Cody-Grizzl-Spark-Dipper-Rooster-Puddle
...Some are a bit more 'playful', but they're unique and could give your wolf personality.
How can you tell if your Oscar is sick?
If he is more slugish than normal and not eating any thing also check to see if he has any outer symptoms of other dieseases
May depend on what state you reside in. Here, in Wisconsin, if I receive a letter from one tenant, I would send the remaking tenant a letter stating they are now responsible for all rent. I would also have the remaining tenant sign a new lease. Hope this is helpful.
What do you do if your mouse keeps running away is scared of you and keeps finding places to escape?
My method for encouraging shy mice to gain trust in me is by placing a peanut on my palm and let him/her climb up and grab it. The first 10-15 times they will snatch the food and run, but be patient after a while they will start to just sit on your palm and have a munch.
If you want to just handle your pet mouse i have found that by using an empty toilet roll works. They hop into the roll to hide and you can simply pick the roll up and tilt into your palm.
Pet Mice Rule!
Baby rat breathing more heavily and clicking sound?
Either dying or looking for something to eat/drink.
Is it possible to breed deer mice and fancy mice?
Yes!
I caught a deer mouse in my apartment and opting against letting it die slowly and painfully on a mouse sticky bait; I carefully found a way to pull it off and placed it in a 2.5 gallon aquarium. (* Catchmaster Brand mouse sticky pads are very weak and it is easy to pull the mouse off the trap vs. other brands where the mouse will be permanently stuck! Just make sure you wear vinyl gloves to protect your hands and fingers from a potential bite (and vinyl does not stick as permanently to the glue. Also note that you will have to use "gentle force" while pulling your little critter off of the trap. PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO HURT IT!).
In any case, I fed it extremely well for a couple of days and he always took note to run and hide under the protective shelter that I had created for him--Okay Yes, I was plotting to keep it if I caught it! I even went to the pet store and brought the fancy mouse mix so that it would never want to seek the wild again. Yeah right! While attempting to clean his cage my little friend Sir Pennington Copperbottom jumped out and scurried away with the speed of greased lightning! My husband said it was the name I gave him. I was broken hearted plus "broken wallet-ed" because of all the high-grade fancy stuff I had just purchased (mouse dust bath included). SOOO instead of letting all that good stuff goes to waste I went to the pet store and purchased a fancy mouse that kind of reminded me of Sir CP. It was a female. Her name is Lady Jane Gray :)
I guess you're wondering where this is going... well a day after Lady JG was settled in her cage, who got caught on the same sticky pad...? Well, I think it was Sir PC because he was able to do the same full back flips that the original Sir CP was doing previously. I have had mice, hamsters, gerbils, and even a rat so I understood that as long at it wasn't two males I should be fine with them getting along. I was less concerned with breeding because for the life of me I was certain that two different breeds of mice would not mate. Besides Lady JG was more than twice the size of Sir CP. In my mind there was no way he could climb that mountain! Well he did... and quickly! Lady JG gave birth to four babies and they seemed like such a loving and protective pair. They would groom each other and always slept nested together and never fought. Sir CP even started to appear to get used to me getting close to the aquarium and would not runa away as quickly.
Needless to say while removing soiled bedding and adding a fresh batch to one corner of the cage, Sir CP once again jumped right out of the aquarium and ran away. Funny thing was... he hesitated for a while before taking shelter behind all the wires stemming from our computer/media center then running to freedom. Hmmm....
Sorry I wrote so much... I'm a writer. Force of habit :)
How do you build a swimming pool for pet rats?
For small rats, the solution is to use a (new, unused) paint tray--the kind used for paint rollers. It has a shallow end and a deep end. Try dropping their favorite treats into the water if they are reluctant. They may eventually appreciate something bigger (see below), but this is a great first pool for rats. Be sure to use a brand-new paint tray, as most paint is toxic to rats. Placing the "pool" in an empty bathtub can save cleanup time.
For larger rats, you can use an old sink, or a large, flat pot. If it is going to be deeper than the rat can walk through, you will need sloping edges, or a cloth surface that can be climbed to get out of the water. The water should never be more than a foot deep, and should be kept at a moderately warm temperature, and changed frequently. The pool itself should be kept thoroughly clean, and you may want to add a few drops of chlorine solution or bleach to prevent mold. You can also use small amounts of aquarium treatment to make the water safe for rats to swallow.
Never leave pet rats in water unattended, for their own safety as well as for keeping track of where they are.
mice give birth to their young, they are blind at birth and they are mamals, they drink their mothers milk.
when it is cold outside they try to find shelter
open food laying around
they can get in anywhere in your house so it's hard to prevent them
How do you take care of a two week old rat?
You have to make a special formula to feet rats. Also, until a rat is three weeks of age, it needs something to warm it, like a hot water bottle.
Will a female rat abandon her babies if you touch them?
As with all other animals, it's best to stay away from a mother and it's babies unless the animal is a pet and she offers the babies to you. The best way to gain the mothers trust is to continue to tend to her while steering clear of the babies until you know for sure that she will be okay with it. The only real exception is if she is abandoning or neglecting her babies and you know you can save them by intervening. <> Most of the time they will not abandon them, They will eat them.
As smart, if not smarter, than most dogs. (And definitly smarter than most humans)
you should separate them because one of the mums would kill the other mums babys because they gt jealous eof the other mums babys.
I strongly dissagree! I have been researching mice for weeks so I could have my own and on one of the web pages it said that if you have two females and one or both are pregnant they will help take care of each others babies. That's on almost every single web page I've seen.
I say who and where is the father? They are his babies and if it is one male mouse that is father, he would make the others stay away from other babies. With humans though, I would say...
CATFIGHT!!!!! MREOW!!!
