Concentric castles were made out of stone. Stone doesn't set on fire, doesn't rot and is very strong.
They also didn't just change because of the weakness of the motte and bailey castles but because of the influence of change of culture, and warfare. This lead to them becoming more safe and easier to defend and attack.
HowWhen King William (william the conqueror) wanted to replace the Motte and Bailey castles he knocked them down and replaced them with concentric castles.There are many more types of castles
