Is a Chevy Aveo good car?

Everyone will have a positive or negative responce. We have a 2004 purchased with appoximately 55,000 miles, other than normal maintainence no problems. I changed the Oxygen Sensor Bank #1 found on the internet was correction for the problem paid $50.00 and used a refundable tool from 'autozone', no charge nice people. KEEP IN MIND this car has a composite (material) type timing belt and over reving, (never over 2000 RPM) in any gear except highway. If one drives in an OVER REVING manner you can expect the belt to jump the notches/teeth and desequience the timing and result in a blown engine...Good Driving...:)

What if your car has 185 55 R15 tires can you put on 195 55 R15 tires if you are getting new rims?

The quick and easy answer is "no" as it is not advised.... however, if you look around within you wheel wells, you might have enough clearance for the extra 10mm of tire width. You might want to post this question, along with the make, model and year of your car in a forum specific to your car. There will probably be some owners, or even a tire installer of 2 :-) who may have tried this modification before. Learn from the successes (and failures) of others, and save your money!

Here is what you will have by changing to 195/55-15. Your speedometer will read 58.8 at a true 60 mph. Width will increase .39". Overall diameter will increase .43". Sidewall Height of the tire will increase .22". Engine will turn 166 less RPMs per mile traveled. Some of this may sound good but in reality it will adversely effect performance, handling, ride, and steering of the vehicle. The engineers spend lots of time and money choosing the exact size tire that gives your vehicle the best overall characteristics for your vehicle. Any change in size effects these dynamics. My advice is to stick with the OEM size. There is no good reason to change.

How much would you pay for a full tune-up of a 2007 chevrolet aveo Sedan Ls?

Basically a "tune up" in a car today simply is an oil change, air filter change and chassis lubrication. Checking all fluids, etc. If the car has less than 100,000 miles on it, it DOES NOT need spark plugs unless there is a problem with the way it runs. It should cost you no more than $300 and that would be with a radiator flush and new coolant.

Side Note: That is if you take it to a regular mechanic. If you take it to a dealer, expect to pay $500.

Where is the engine temperature sending unit on a 2005 Chevy aveo?

Passenger side of vehicle rear side of cylinder head. I have a 04 I just replaced the coolant sensor (they call it that) I purchased at Auto Zone for $23.80. The reason I replaced it is because whenever I would start the vehicle the motor would rev to about 3K RPMs. Whenever the vehicle was turned off and then restarted the sending unit would indicate zero degrees indicating to the ECM the vehicles engine was cold causing a cold start fuel air setup. I replaced the timing belt at 58K miles because I received a letter from GM Protection letter stating if the timing belt broke before 60K miles GM would pay for all the repairs including any parts caused by the timing belts failure. After 60K miles the repairs would be entirely on the consumer or owner. SOO I called local Chevrolet dealership speaking to a service writer. I asked what components was recommended replaced when the timing belt was replaced?

His answer was "just the timing belt". The valve cover gasket could be reused also unless it was damaged while removing the 0valve cover. So I had a local garage replace the the timing belt and change the oil and filter while they were there.

So 4.400 miles later while driving near my home at 30MPH the engine died while in motion. I attempted to restart the engine but it failure restart it would turn over but ignite. I had the vehicle towed back to the local garage who discovered the timing belt did NOT break but the timing belt tensioner broke this time only 4,400 miles after I replaced the timing belt. Six(6) valves was belt are damaged. Each valve cost like $30 bucks(it has a total of 16 valves). You must purchase a head gasket ($44.00 I think) you must take this cylinder head to a machine shop who charge about $300 bucks to pressure check each valve to make the valves are seated and holding pressure(exhaust or intake valves). To remove the valves that do hold pressure(bent valves) caused by the timing belt breaking. The machine shop must cut the cylinder head on a machine which grinds the head level so it will not leak cylinder pressure when installed back to the top of the engine.

The local garage who replaced the timing belt also was advised by Chevrolet that when replacing the timing belt only the timing belt needed to be replaced so they would not warranty any work regarding the timing belt belt they replaced because the timing belt did not break this time it was the tensioner which broke.

What does it mean when car lights flicker on Chevy Aveo?

What kind of flicker do you mean? I own an '05 Aveo (my first car) and I find that my running lights get dim, go back to full brightness, and repeat. My interior clock goes in and out too.

Why I mention the clock is that when I did a little research, I found that the circuit for the clock and the headlights are connected. After checking it out, I found that when the lights are bright, the clock is out, and when the lights were dim, the clock was on. I don't know if this is your issue, but it could help.

Why would the check engine light come on in Chevy Aveo?

I just had the same problem. After reading posts about cylinder head, and/or valve issues, I took my car into the dealer to check out the check engine light that went on last night. My problem? The gas cap seal had a wrinkle in it, allowing air into the system. Check that out before going to extremes. I'll do that next time, before spending $135 to tell me the gas cap wasn't on right.

This is apparently a common Aveo problem. Even when that cap seal looks good and you swear you clicked in on right, it still will trigger the check engine light. Take the cap off, check the seal, replace the cap correctly and it should reset the light. It might take a while and you may have to repeat a few times but it should eventually come around.

My gas cap was loose. I closed it, drove around the block and the light was gone.
