just about all newer vette's come from the factory with mobil 1 synthetic oil installed and is recommended, 5w-40 or 10w-40 will work fine.

First, you really cannot change one head on a V8 engine. Second if the buy a new or remanufactured head it will change the compression and you will probably blow the head gasket on the head on the other side of the engine. That said, if you replace both heads you will raise the compression and may start burning oil, sometimes a lot of oil depending on the miles on your motor. Best bet, if you can afford it is to just have the motor rebuilt. To answer you question on the cracked head if you take it off yourself you can probably get the head, head gasket and the valve cover gasket for under $500.00 bucks. You do have to have a torque wrench to torque the head bolts on correctly or it will be a total waste of time. If you take it in it may be upwards of $800.00-$1200.00 dollars to repair. The very first corvette was a white convertible with red interior.

Remove the gas filler door, this is held in place with four small visible screws. Remove the gas cap and put a crumpled up paper towel in the gas filler pipe to be sure no dirt can get in. Remove the rubber boot around the gas filler pipe by pushing down with your fingers, and then disconnect the drain hose on the underside. Detach visible cable harness restraint and move the wire harness to give you clearance. Using a small mechanics mirror on a stick and a bright light, look under the rear deck at the third light assembly via the open space you just created around the gas filler pipe area. You will see two 10mm nuts, one on either side of the third light assembly. Remove them and carefully remove the entire third light assembly. Note, there is a power cable quick connect for the third light that you will have to disconnect. Now remove the two Philips screws to access the three bulbs inside. Warning - Do not touch the new high intensity bulbs with your fingers as you insert them, use a paper towel, or they will self destruct in minutes once you apply power - fyi. Once you have carefully replaced the three bulbs, reverse the disassembly procedure. Plan two beers to disassemble, and a third to reassemble. Enjoy & good luck, Jay

The fuel pump relay is located inside the car on the passanger side under the glove box.. You have to remove the carpet and plastic panel to access it... Its the middle relay of 5...

the turn signal/hazard flasher is located under the dash between the brake pedal and the fuse block.

The latch pin can be adjusted up and down to latch nice and tight. If its not locking in all the way that might be why it pops out. If you've adjusted it and it still pops out the close spring could be broken or something is faulty in the latch. To adjust the pin, loosed locknut and turn pin clockwise to make tighter, or counter to make looser.
