Does anyone know the proper way to remove the clutching fan on a 2000 Chevy express van 3500 5.7 ltr?

Having a heating or cooling issue? Is the climate control stuck on heat or cool. More than likely, it is the blend door motor or the blend door itself. The blend door move according to the hot/cold setting on your dash. It redirects the air flow from the air conditioning evap coil to the heater core depending on the setting. If it sticks on the cold side, NO HEAT. If it sticks on the hot setting, NO AIR CONDITIONING.

Just to clarify, this is on trucks with manual controls for heat and air. If you take the truck in to have it repaired, you will spend $500-$1000 for the repair. The claim is that they have to remove the entire dash assembly to fix this. With a little investigation and some inginuity...I repaired one in under 20 mins. I'll try and cover this as clear as I can. I gained access to the blend door motor through the glove box. It helps if you have long fingers or small hands to do this but IT CAN BE DONE.

1. Pull all the junk out of your glove box. On the left hand side at the top, you will see a metal "P" shaped retainer that catches the back of the glove box when you open it. Push up on the retainer to release the glove box and swing it down.

2. Looking in, you will see 2 round vacuum actuators. Locate the one on the left and carefully remove the vacuum line and drop it down out of the way. (This actuator changes the air flow from the defroster to the vents to the floor as you switch the control.) With a flat screwdriver, carefully pry up the actuator. It slides on to a mount. If you look carefully, you can see how it is mounted. Once the clip releases, slide it up and then it will swing toward you and to the left out of your way.

3. Once you have the actuator from step 2 out of your way you can see the blend door motor directly behind. This is held in place by 2 screws. This is where it gets interesting! How do you get the screws out you ask? "SPECIAL" tool needed? I got creative. The screw head is a 7/32". I took a 7/32 socket and an old Allen wrench. I ground the Allen wrench down slightly to fit into the side the socket wrench would go in. I then cut the long side of the Allen wrench down to about 1 1/2" in length. (This gives you a handle to turn the socket with and it fits up in the dash.) Loosen the two screws and then carefully pry up the motor. Once you have it out, turn the key on and try changing the setting from heat to cold. If the motor turns, it is good. No movement, needs a new motor. I got a new one from NAPA for $57.

If the motor is good, you have an issue with the blend door itself. Check and see if the stud is sticking out from where you removed the motor. If not it broke off and you need a new blend door. I found a website that sells new blend doors made out of metal. They also say that you don't have to remove the dash to put the new door in. The website is www.heatertreater.com.

Under your hood on your right side mounted on the fire wall!!

It is under the van, on the drivers side, under the fuel intake pipe. You can get to it from under the couch, but it is almost inpossible to reach. I need a wiring diagram for a 2000 Chevolet 2500 Jayco Conversion.

Don't forget pulling is one factor, stopping is more important. If you are towing over 4000lbs, you must have electric brakes on the trailer.

My Flasher unit is clicking real fast but the turn signal does not work. Is this the flasher or a furse?

Both trucks need fuel filters I am not sure if both years (2003 and 2005) use same one or not but you should be able to call your local autoparts store to figure out wether they use the same one or not.

It takes one O2 sensor available at any parts store. There is a special tool that has a slot so you can remove the sensor and replace with the new. There is a factory connector. 5 minute job. Sensor sits on top of pipe just ahead of catalytic converter.

Tighten in a criss-cross pattern to 150 inch pounds. Mark

You can find a free 2003 Chevrolet Express Van V-6 vacuum diagram at most Chevrolet dealerships. You can also find the diagram at most libraries.

Just had same problem on same van. It uses a 20 amp fuse which is located under the hood on farthest driver side in a little black box close to where you fill with washer fluid. This will almost be touching the body of the vehicle. On the back of the cover you'll see a fuse diagram. Check the fuse and you can temp swap two relays that are the same to check that. But 75% of the time, neither will be the problem. I had to replace the horn itself

Under the vehicle on the frame cross member directly under the drivers seat. A single clip holds it in place and it faces toward the front on the vehicle.

i believe its located in the air box tube in front of throttle body valve..you have to take the inner engine cover between the seats to get access to the sensor

It seems to happen to a lot of express vans. The ground wire in the socket for the bulbs often corrodes and looses contact.

The differences are mostly cosmetic, but GMC's are known to have more standard options, a better ride, etc. With those things GMC vehicles cost more than their badge-engineered Chevrolet counterparts.

You shut the door, if needed spray each hinge with WD 40. Then take a straight screwdriver and a hammer to pound out the hinge. In an upward motion the end of the screwdriver against the bottom edge of the top of the pin, then take the hammer and pound on the end of the screwdriver to loosen. When loose you may be able to remove it with your hand or pliers.

The above will not work on some door hinges such as Schlage. THIS WORKS ON SCHLAGE: Heat the hinge with your hair dryer to loosen the goop inside the hinge. Use pliers to hold the hinge as it will get very hot. Once it's hot enough, insert a small screw driver into the pin hole. Bang the screwdriver and I promise the hinge will come out. It worked for me on all my Schlage hinge pins.

There are two fuse boxes in mine, one under the driver seat and under the hood on the drivers side.

the factory service manual has a diagram or there may be one under hood or in cooling area.you can also get a haynes or chilton book at an auto parts store with the diagram in it
