How do you replace the water pump on a 2000 Chevy Malibu?

Doing my water pump now on 2000 Malibu. First remove the tube that runs in front of the water pump by taking the 2 bolts off the motor mount and undo the plastic clamp on the hoses. Next remove the serpine belt. this is done by taking the tension off the belt. In order to do this take a 3/8 braker bar with a short piece of pipe and put in in the tensionser. Do not remove the bolt. The 3/8 squre is on the bottom of the tensioner. Apply a little pressure on the pipe and you'll be able to able to remove the belt. Now remove the 4 bolts on the water pump pully. They open to the left.( a normal therad ). Now you will be able to get at the 5 bolts on the water pump. Hope this helps

How do you replace a power window switch for a 2001 Chevy Malibu?

The bezel that holds it into the door pull is only held in with a couple of tabs. With a flathead screw driver, put the end of the screw driver and pry up on the bezel and it should come free for you.

All of the wires to the switch are just clipped in. All you need to do is squeeze the clip tabs and the wires will come off of the switch.

I've also included a how to video showing this process.

Hope this helps out,

What is a relayable classic?

There is no easy way to answer that question. Most classics are so old that their reliability depends on how much work is put into them. I've had a few classic cars, and the best way to make sure they are reliable is to check everything and replace what is obviously won out or rusted etc etc....

I can tell you this though, few engines are as tough as the old ford flatheads of the 1920's.

How do you check the transmission fluid on a 1999 Chevy Malibu?

For the answer to this question, look in your owner's manual. Don't have one then get one. You need an owner's manual for the maintenance schedule and for questions just like this. Sources for a manual are: Dealer, Salvage Yard, E-Bay, and many on-line sites. Here is one site. http://www.samarins.com/maintenance/manual.html

What is the right tire pressure for cars?

about 30psi in the summer and 34psi in the winter on most tires. Look on the tire that you are checking and it should tell you what it requires.

Most cars have a label on the drivers door jamb that lists the recommended pressures.

How do you change the oil filter on a 2006 Chevy Malibu?

Actually, the oil filters on the 2006 Malibus are located right underneath the hood in a small canister that twists on and off with a special tool. You just pull the old one out..snap in the new one and make sure it spins freely then twist it back in.

How do you know if you need a starter for your 2000 Chevy Malibu?

If you know you are getting power to the starter but the engine does not turn over when you turn the key, you probably have a bad starter. Your local auto parts store can check it for you once you remove it from the vehicle.

Before you remove the starter though make sure your battery is charged and the battery cables are in good condition and making good contact. If those things are Okay and the engine still won't turn over the starter would be the next logucal place to check. Good luck

Is there a fuse in the fuel pump in a 1999 Chevy Malibu?

no, there is not a fuse inside the fuel pump -

check to make sure you have 12 volts to fuel pump for first 3 seconds when key is on position- also check ground to fuel pump

if both of these are good and you have no or little fuel pump pressure check fuel filter or replace it-

if no or little fuel after replacing fuel filter then replace fuel pump

also don't forget to check fuel pressure regulator (although this is a rare problem among Chevy Malibu's)
