Name a chore a babysitter mighthave to do on a job?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I am an experienced babysitter, and when you babysit there are TONS of things to do!

It depends on how old the children are for infants to 3 year olds the most you can do is play music and dance with the child, read books, make snacks, watch movies, play with dolls or cars (make sure any toy you play with is soft and wouldn't hurt the infant of child), or you can also roll a ball back and forth!

For 4-7 year olds they are more about talking and walking and running!! so you would need to be on your toes with this age range. What you could do is...Play with toys, go outside, read books, watch movies, swim is a small pool (don't forget sunscreen!), and you could ask the child too! See what they love to do in their spare time!

8-10 year olds (with is as high as Igo in age when i babysit), are a different story. For them you need to warm up to them. They may not be as playful then the younger kids! Sometimes they just like to go off and play by themselves, but if they do this you have to check back on them regularly so the stay out of trouble, as well as asking if they would mind if you could play too!

Can a 14 year old babysit overnight?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

hey fourteen year olds are legally able to babysit siblings. You can babysit for friends and family if they so wish, but if they would rather get an older babysitter, it is perfectly understandable. People might think your not qualified and responsible enough for this job. Wait until your 16, then you can babysit any one Not all states have laws requiring a person to be of a specifc age to be employed in such occupations as babysitting. Many teens of your age are quite mature and responsible and do very well at any number of things. Researching the need for various services in your community will help you find what you would like to do, including private childcare.

How can a 13 year old find babysitting jobs?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Nobody ever told me boys can't babysit. It's just that girls have the maternal instinct in them to take care of children since they'll have one of their own someday. Just show that you're able to take care of children, have good first aid skills, and are reliable. Besides, you're only 13. Why do you need a job? Enjoy being a kid and don't grow up TOO fast. It's not as glorified as everyone makes it out to be.

How much does a waiter get paid hourly?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Waitresses and waiters make less than minimum wage due to what the government call "tip wage", which i might add, you are expected to claim on your taxes.

Servers can make a great deal of money. True the check is minimal or non-existant. Sometimes the taxes servers pay on their tips is more then they make on their check. I once worked as a server in an upscale restaurant. I never left with less than $300 per night in tips. One night I left with over $1200. Thanks Tiger Woods!

The above is NOT the norm. I've been working at upscale restaurants in BIG cities (Chicago, Atlanta) for over 10 years. The above is correct that you make less than minimum wage hourly, but DO NOT expect to make between $300 - 1200 nightly in tips. More likely, you will make between $75 - 200 per night (at most restaurants, $200 is a real good night). I'm also forced to wonder, if you are asking this question, if you have ever worked at a restaurant before. If the answer is no, you'll most likely make even less. True, there are restaurants in Vegas, Chicago, NYC, and LA where you can pull in that much money, but trust me, they won't hire you if its you're first FOH job unless you are also a model. Good luck.

It just depends on the state in which you live here in Washington state waitresses make minimum plus tips which can level out to about 15.00 an hour of course depending on your experience.

How long can a 12 year old Babysit?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I think that this all depends on maturity. If you are twelve, you should be able to look after at least 3 children but you should never babysit more than 5 kids unless you are old enough to. Then again, if the family trusts you with 5 kids because they know you are practical, responsible and caring, you should be okay. Be sure to check with your arents before you babysit anyone, though!!

How much should a 11-year-old get paid for babysitting?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I would be concerned with a 10-year-old being left in charge of younger kids. They have limited ability to control others and don't have the experience to cover emergencies.

You should not have a 10 year old baby sitting, as they are still not responsible enough to look after children that are younger than them, especially babies. You have to be 14 years of age to babysit! :)

How old do you have to be to babysit in Michigan?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In most states it depends on the job. Generally, until you are 18 there are some limits on how many hours you can work a week and within the same day (particularly during the school year). If you are between the ages of 14-16 it gets more complicated, fewer hours and more hoops through which to jump. For instance you generally have to get signed permission from you school if you are under 16. Many employers won't bother hiring you if you are under 16, it isn't worth the hassle. There are some possibilities - such as babysitting, yard work for neighbors, etc., but a lot depends on your interests and how you present yourself. Also, as long as you are under-age, your parents have a fair amount of say in whether you are allowed to work. I don't know Michigan law specifically, but I have worked with minors in a number of states, generally if you are under 16, it is a lot of hassle except for jobs for neighbors and the like. Once you are 16, things get much easier, although you are still restricted as far as the number of hours and WHICH hours (like few fast food restaurants close early enough to have a 16 year old do closing - it would be against the law as it is is too late.) I am not a lawyer. Nor do I portray one here or on TV. Someone as young as 11 can get a job in Michigan. They have to obtain a work permit from their school. The total number of hours is restricted to a total of 48 hours of school and work a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old does my child have to be before I can allow her/him to be home alone?

Under Maryland law, a child must be at least eight years old to be left alone in a house or car. State law also says a child must be at least 13 years old to baby-sit another child. Generally, it is left up to the parent to decide whether a child who is at least eight is mature enough to be home alone. Any time you leave your child alone, be sure the child knows what to do in case of an emergency.

Baltimore County Department of Social Services' Child Protective Services (CPS) may become involved if a child of any age is left alone and is placed at risk of harm because he/she is unable to manage on his/her own. CPS may also become involved if your child's babysitter or caretaker is unable to properly care for him/her.

Can a 13 year old babysit a 9 year old all hours of the night in Ohio?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I dont see why not. As long as the 13 year old is resposible and has all emergency numbers and plans, then they should be fine. Because the child is at the age where they can handle the situation with help, it sounds like to be fine. The babysitter just has to remember to lock all the doors and windows.

Generally:

  • A child under the age of 8 years and out of sight (in a dwelling, building, enclosure, or motor vehicle) of the person charged with his/her care must be left with a reliable person at least 13 years old. [FL 5-801(a)]
  • Violation of this statute is a misdemeanor. An individual found in violation is subject to a fine not exceeding $500.00 or imprisonment not exceeding 30 days, or both. [FL 5-801(b)]

How can a 5 foot 4 inches 12 year old girl 130 pounds lose 20 lbs in 3 months?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If you need to loose 100 pounds or 20 pounds in the next 3 months, read this post. If you have no health problems I think you could do this, but you will need to decrease your calorie intake and exercise. Write down what you eat each day, choose diet sodas and low calorie drinks. Eat 3 meals and at least 2 snacks. Get a calorie counter to help with the foods that don't have labels. Choose natural and whole foods over packaged foods. Choose whole grain breads and try to stay away from white foods(high in carbs, with little nutritional value)such as enriched products, sugars, and starchy veggies(corn, potatoes, white onions) . Eat fruits, veggies and salads. You'll get more food for the calorie too. Meat servings are 3-4 ounces or the size of a deck of cards. Chicken and fish (less calories and fat) are better options than pork and beef but don't limit to only one kind. Eat some raw veggies when you can as your body burns more calories digesting these foods("peel a pound" foods or "negative calorie" foods)Stick to 1500 calories a day unless weight loss slows, then drop to 1200 calories a day but never lower than this. Remember portion control and serving sizes! Counting calories gives you more food options, keeps you from getting bored and allows for the occasional treat without guilt. Drink 8 glasses of cold water a day. Ice water burns more calories. Use a 1 cup measuring cup and it won't seem like so much and try and drink one every hour. Get out and walk! Walking is easy to do at any pace and you can increase that pace as you loose weight and feel healthier. Walking cost nothing but your time and in order to loose weight, get healthy and feel good about yourself, you'll need to invest some time into yourself. Take the family dog along or invite a friend...or a parent. Get down in the floor and do some exercises. Anything and everything you do will burn calories, tone and tighten your muscles and skin. Don't sit in front of the TV or computer too often. The TV will make you want food when you watch all of the commercials! Don't eat at least 2 hours before bed. My mother use to tell me not to eat after 6pm. I was overweight at 14 too. Get up and get moving or keep busy. All the best to you!

How can a 13 year old lose 30 POUNDS?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

All you have to do is eat three small meals and drink eight glasses of water a day; also you should do a lot of exercises that will make you swet because sweting gets rid of all the wastes in your body. If you dont want to exercise it will take you longer but it will still work if you have a HealthyDiet which means NO CHIPS. Every time you buy food look at the ingredients and see if the food has hydrogenated oils or sugar. If it has any of those two things then it's what makes people fat, so make sure it does not have any of those two things.
