Sebring convertibles have a device called a seat belt timer control module that is located under the center console and to the rear of the parking brake handle. This device acts as a timer, allowing electricity to flow to the seat belt locking solenoids for 30 minutes after the car is shut off or the door is opened. The reason these cars have locking solenoids is because the entire seat belt mechanism moves with the seat and must be able to work in any position. A standard swinging anchor type of reel lock would not work with this seat because of the ability to recline.
The timing control module also senses changes in pitch and rapid acceleration/deceleration of the car, locking the seat belt mechanisms. These modules do go bad from time to time and must be replaced. It is highly unlikely that the plugs under both seats came unplugged at the same time, though it is certainly the first and cheapest thing to check.
If you must buy a new unit from Chrysler, be prepared to spend about $150 for the part. I have no idea what the labor charge would be since I do my own work, but anyone who is handy with basic hand tools can do this job in less than an hour. You might also consider picking the part up from a U-pull-it type of auto recycler, where the part will surely cost you less than $20.

have the exact same problem on a 2001 sebring. we are working on it with mechanic/friend at a Chrysler dealer. problem appears to be either the switch(a one piece unit that controls all this plus the lights)or in a part called the bcm(Body control module). Answerthere are two sets of fuses in the sebring.check both the under-hood fuses and also make sure to check the fuse located on the left side of the dashboard. the door must be open to access this fuse block. remove plastic cover from side of dash. on a 2001 sebring lxi, the fuse is in slot # 15. check the fuse marked "turn signal wiper/washer". this will be imprinted on the inside of the plastic cover you removed. when this fuse is blown, you have no signals, no wiper/washer, and no rear defrost. if that doesn't do it, start with the cheapest(easiest) stuff, and work your way to the expensive(hardest)stuff.first, change the relays. next,change the switch. sometimes, if you unplug the body contol module(hard to get to),then plug it in 5 minutes later, it will reset itself and the problem goes away. if not, you might have a bad bcm.they're pricey. most of the time its the fuse on the side of the dash. good luck.Why does your 2002 Chrysler Sebring keep over heating?

I have a 2002 Sebring Limited Convertible and my battery is located and "accessable" on the driverside front wheel well. To change the battery you need to turn the wheel all the way to the right and remove a cover to expose the battery. Good Luck! it's no easy task!
