How do you replace spark plugs on a sebring 2001?

Disconnect negative cable from auxiliary jumper terminal (I believe this is the ground wire tied to the strut tower on the driver's (left) side of the car).

Unplug the connectors from the MAP sensor and (just to its front) the intake air temp sensor.

Remove the plenum support bracket bolt located rearward of the MAP sensor

Remove the bolt holding the air inlet resonator (the thing with words "multi-point injection") to the intake plenum.

Loosen throttle body air inlet hose clamp

Release snaps holding air cleaner housing cover housing

Remove air cleaner cover and inlet hoses from the engine

Unplug throttle position sensor and idle air control motor connectors.

Pry retainer tab back on throttle cable and slide cable out of bracket. Remove cable from throttle lever.

Slide Speed control cable out of bracker, if equipped. Remove cable from throttle lever.

Remove EGR tube from intake plenum.

Remove plenum support bracket bolt located rearward of EGR tube

Remove bolts holding upper intake plenum and remove plenum

Always remove the ignition cable by grasping at the spark plug boot turning the boot 1/2 turn and pulling straight back in a steady motion

Prior to removing the spark plug spray compressed air around the spark plug hole and the area around the spark plug

Remove the spark plug using a quality spark plug socket with a rubber foam insert

Inspect spark plug condition.

To avoid cross-threading start the plug into the cylinder head by hand

Tighten the spark plugs to 20 ft-lbs (28 N-m)

Install ignition cables over spark plugs

Install new gasket and position upper intake plenum. Tighten blots to 13 ft-lbs (18 N-m)

Install bolts at plenum support brackets (Same torque as above)

Install EGR tube at plenum. Tighten EGR tube to intake manifold plenum screws to 8 ft-lbs (11 N-m)

Install throttle and speed control (if equipped) cables

Attach electrical connectors to sensors.

Install air inlet tube clamp to to 25+/- 5 inch pounds (3 +/- 1 N-m)

Connect negative terminal to auxiliary jumper terminal.

2000 sebring jx brake lights fail but fuse not blown?

Fuse Good, But Lights Still Don't Work

I suspect that the problem is an "open circuit" condition meaning that:

  • A connector in that circuit has become disconnected.
  • A buildup of road film or corrosion, or both, in one of the connectors prevents flow of electric current.
  • The brake light switch is out of adjustment.
  • A wire in the circuit has been cut or broken.
  • The brake light switch has become defective.

There are probably some other causes that I can't think of now. Good luck!

How do you change the brake lights in a 1999 Chrysler lhs?

Pull back the carpet and remove the 2 plastic "wing nuts". This will allow the entire taillight assembly to hang loose. Remove the bulb assembly by turning it 1/4 turn and replace the bulb.

How do you change the oil of a 1999 Chrysler sebring lxi coupe?

I have the same vehicle and have been doing my own oil changes since I bought the car. It's really easy, you just need about 30 mins free time.

First, a few sticky points... The oil filter is mounted VERY close to one of the oxygen sensors. I have found the only mainstream filter that screws on without any removal of the sensor is the FRAM brand. Mobil 1, nope, Bosch, nope... Also, the engine in your car is quite sensitive to maintenance done "on the cheap." I switched my oil changes to Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W-30 and the car runs WAY better. Less tappet clatter on cold starts, better oil pressure throughout oil life... the works. It's an extra few bucks that goes a long way. You'll need 5 quarts of oil and the filter - Roughly $30 in 2009 money.

The oil change itself is easy as pie. Pop the hood and remove the oil cap. Lay down next to the passenger front wheel and stick your head against the front bumper. The oil pan is the first bowl shaped thing you can see... with a round indentation right in the middle. On the back, is the drain plug. It measures 17mm and should be replaced every few years so you have a new gasket on it. Remove it and allow the oil to drain. Next, moving towards the front, is the filter - sitting above the oxygen sensor in the exhaust header pipe. Unscrew by hand or use a filter wrench. Be gentle lowering it out the car - and clean up any oil that spills out onto the exhaust parts. While the main drain is still dripping, it's a good idea to check the filter to make sure the gasket came off and isn't stuck to the filter housing on the engine.

Replace the drain plug on the oil pan. Tighten it up securely as you don't want to lose it going down the highway! But remember, not so tight that you can't get it back off in 3 or 4 months...

Pre-fill the filter with about half a quart of fresh oil. Also put a bead of oil on the gasket. Screw on the filter, being careful not to cross thread. Tighten down to the filter manufacturers instructions (usually 3/4 to 1 full turn after the filter touches the housing/bracket.

Put four quarts into the oil fill hole on top of the engine. Put the cap on and start the engine. The oil pressure light will go out right away, then the gauge will bounce up a few seconds later. Don't be alarmed if it takes a few seconds - it's just the filter filling up with new, nice oil. After a minute or so, park the car on a level surface and shut it off. Wait 5 mins and check the dipstick. The level should be right around the upper indent on the stick.

Congrats, you just changed your oil!

You have no heat in your 1997 Chrysler sebring convertible what could be the problem?

No Heat can be caused by a low coolant levels, bad Thermostat or Water pump, plugged heater core or heater hoses. For the most part my sister had this problem with her SeaBring Convertible after I replaced the Thermostat and flushed the system the heater worked. It is plausible as the car ages the AC / Heat door may stop moving to the correct position which can also cause low heat or temperature level. Playing with the Environmental controls may reveal inside problems with the Heater unit and its components which can malfunction after many years of use. This type of problem usually cannot be solved by the owner and requires a skilled Mechanic to correctly diagnose individual heater system component failure.

How do you fill the hydraulic fluid on your 1998 Chrysler Sebring?

Chrysler Sebring Convertible Fluid Fill with hydraulic fluid

A. On top of one end of the convertible top pump is a rubber fill plug, remove it and fill it to the bottom of the fill hole. Here is the proper procedure.

Rotate and raise the motor/pump assembly so the reservoir is in the up position. The rubber filler plug will be at the top. Raise the motor and pump fitting to at least 2" above the horizontal rear seat back reinforcement. Tilt the motor and pump assembly to approximately the 10 o'clock position, with the rubber filler plug still at the top. CAUTION: The motor and pump assembly must remain in the current position until the rubber filler plug is reinstalled in step 7.

Remove the rubber fill plug from the reservoir. Fill the hydraulic system by adding Dexron 2 Automatic Transmission Fluid to the bottom of the fill hole. CAUTION: Do not operate the top switch in the "up", closing the top, direction.

With two people, activate the top switch in the "down" (opening the top) position to fully retract the cylinder rods and hold for approximately 5 seconds, until the motor and pump stalls. A percolating or gurgle sound/feeling is an indication that the procedure is working. Top off the pump with Dexron 2 and insert the filler plug.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1997 Chrysler Sebring LXI 2.5L V6?

The fuel filter is located above the rear of the fuel tank. You will need to drop the fuel tank down about 10 to 12 inches, as the fuel lines allow, and disconnect the three fuel lines. There is one that is connected to the fuel filter and two connected to the fuel module (pump). Be sure the fuel tank is almost empty before you try to lower it.

AnswerUnder the car in the fuel line.

answer exactly.

quote from the Chrysler sebring manual

The fuel filter mounts to the frame above the rear of the fuel tank. The inlet and outlet tubes are permanently attached to the filter.

Where is Egr location on a 2004 Chrysler sebring?

The EGR valve is mounted on the rear of the engine. It is connected to two pipes, just above the bell housing.

Where is the egr valve on a 1999 Chrysler Sebring 30?

I've just cleaned the EGR valve on my 1999 Sebring Convertible. The EGR valve is over by the battery. Look from the front for something that resembles a thermostat.

Old Answer

I have a 98 lxi V6. I believe the 3.0 liter is layed out in the same fashion. If it is, the valve is attached to the back of the intake plenum(the big silver thing that looks like 6 tubes stuck together) between the plenum and the firewall. Go to an autoparts store and buy a manual for the sebring. The directions are in there. That is how I did it. Hope this helps.
