Should you upgrade your dell optiplex 745 to make a decent gaming computer or go another route?
An optiplex 745 Desktop model with the core 2 duo e6400 and the x1300 pro will play *most* current games on the absolute lowest settings. Deus Ex: human revolution is about as far as you will be able to go while still getting playable frame rates. However, if you upgrade to a core 2 duo e8400 (80 to 90 used) and get a good $100 graphics card that still fits within the power supply limits or power it externally with another power supply (there are tutorials available online to learn how to do this) then yes, you can definitely make this into a system that will at the very least perform as good or better than xbox 360 or ps3. I scored this system for $110 and I can barely play the new medal of honor perfectly, sc2 perfectly, and Deus Ex: Human revolution on low settings with a slightly lower framerate. The biggest bottle neck is the video card. So if you got a sweet deal like me, then yes, it just might be worth it!

Actually, the maximum RAM is 2GB, not 1GB. It can take pc2700 or pc3200 184 DIMM memory, up to 1GB in each slot. Not sure about the PC2100; (I use pc2700 in mine.) Hope this helps!
Apoette
My sincere apologies, but Apoette, is correct. One of the sites I looked at, stated the max mem of 1gb. After checking crucial's website, Apoette's findings are correct.
Once again my apologies for not checking more thoroughly before posting.

they have an agreement with dell saying that samsung cannot sell its branded computers in America, and Dell cannot sell their computer in Korea. A very bad move for Samsung though...

Have blackberry gone bankrupt?
As far as the outside world knows, Blackberry has not gone bankrupt. They have, undoubtedly, fallen on tough financial times. They faced a big decision not too long ago: either sell the company and partner up or try to gain their fortunes back by releasing a new product they developed. They decided to try their luck on their own and released the Blackberry 10 series of phones. This did not do as much for them as they had hoped, however, though the phones actually did receive respectable reviews in some cases. Recently, they admitted they would have to seek out different options for their future, however, and they have subsequently announced they will begin examining options to partner up with another company. If they refused to do this they would likely become bankrupt sometime in the near future.

Is a hp pavilion dv7 better than a hp pavilion dv6?
Depends on what you plan to use it for.
In terms of sheer power, the dv7 is "better" than the dv6 because it has a newer processor (3rd gen i7 vs 2nd gen i5), and a better screen (1600x900 vs 1366x768).
However, in terms of price efficiency, the older dv6 is "better" because its age has reduced its price by on average $100 compared to the dv7. The extra $100 is, in my opinion, not worth the slight improvement, because it will not be noticeable in every-day use.
Toshiba makes the best laptops. I would highly recommend a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092.

The airport extreme simply makes a relatively small wireless network. The best example of what an Airport Extreme base station is is to compare it to your home phone line and phone. Most people have wireless home phones now. They have a phone line coming into the house and a base station that sends the data received through the phone line to phone handsets somewhere in the house. This is like an Airport Extreme. Your internet provider runs internet to your home (this is the monthly payment). Your Airport Extreme makes a small network which broadcasts the internet in your home. Inside your computer is a wireless card that receives the signal just like your handset on your phone receives the signal from the phone base station. So you don't pay a monthly fee for the Airport Extreme, you pay for the internet that the AE broadcasts. The airport simply makes the internet wireless and your Airport card in your Macbook receives the signal. So you can take the Airport Extreme with you, but you would have to plug it into someone's existing internet that they pay monthly for to get any internet data. The Airport by itself does not have any internet.

What some advantages and disadvantages of using fiber optic cable?
The twisting of wires reduce crosstalk because when electrical current flows through a wire, it creates a small, circular magnetic field around the wire. When two wires in an electrical circuit are placed close together, their magnetic fields are the exact opposite of each other. Thus, the two magnetic fields cancel each other out. They also cancel out any outside magnetic fields. Twisting the wires can enhance this cancellation effect.
