Are compact discs digital recordings?

The data written onto compact discs is in a digital format. It may not have originally been written in a digital format, but will be converted to digital in order to write it to a compact disc.

Some music/audio compact discs show whether the data was digital or analogue at each stage of: * original recording

* mixing * recording to CD by showing a three letter code where A indicates analogue and D digital.

ADD would indicate an original analogue recording with a digital mixing and then the digital compact disc recording.

Uses and function of breadboard?

A breadboard, being a reusable solderless circuit board with electrical contacts arranged in rows and columns has many uses, depending on the user.

Having electrical contacts build into the board in this way significantly reduces the number of wires one would have used without the aid of a circuit board, thus simplifying a potentially messy collection of electronics into a neatly arranged circuit.

Components are inserted across tracks, and tracks may be joined with wires if required.

Typically, a breadboard is used to build a temporary circuit - since no soldering is required, so a circuit can be assembled and disassembled quickly and easily.

This makes it an excellent piece of equipment in a school laboratory, where students can expand their practical knowledge of electronics by building circuits from a schematic diagram or other.

It may also be used by professionals, who wish to test components, or certain arrangements when designing or building more complex circuits.

What is agp or pcx?

AGP:

(Accelerated Graphics Port) is a PCI-based interface that was designed specifically for demands of 3D graphics applications.

It is a high speed point-to-point channel for attaching a graphics card to a computer's motherboard, primarily to assist in the acceleration of 3D computer graphics.

Located on the motherboard, it is a dedicated high-speed port for moving large blocks of data between a PC graphics controller and the system memory.

This interface, firstly designed by Intel, is based on the 66 MHz PCI specification. AGP is geared towards data-intensive graphics cards, such as 3D accelerators; its design allows for data throughput at rates of 266 MB/sec.

Data transfer from AGP can also be at 8x speed.

PCX:

A high-speed peripheral interconnect introduced in 2002. Note that although abbreviated "PCX", PCI Express is not the same as "PCI".

PCI Express is a new interconnect technology designed to provide universal connectivity for use as a chip-to-chip and chip to adapter card interconnect. PCI Express will be the I/O architecture for everything from graphics adapters to Ethernet cards to TV tuners.

This is a faster version of pci and a smaller slot and is used for Graphics cards.

Data transfer from PCX can also be at 16x speed (double the AGP's)

In my opinion, as i have used both of them, if you prefer 'performance' of graphics, then you must choose PCX (PCI express) for this, but if you prefer 'quality' of graphics, then you must choose AGP for this.

Also the commercial prices for AGP cards are more expensive than PCX cards.

(e.g. 35 US$ difference.)

What checks your computer for user activity and can shut off hardware devices to save power?

The operating system will have a power saving mode that will count the miliseconds when a computer is not being used. as soon as there is mouse movement or a key on the keyboard is pressed than this counter will be reset.

If the counter reaches a certain time, then an action is performed. this could be a screen saver, followed by monitor power off, then the computer will most probaly be put to a low power mode such as sleep or hibernate.

Why there is need of multicore processor?

Its needed because its faster, most programs need more speed to run, its better.

How hard is it to install an internal hard drive on a computer and what parts do you need in addition to the actual hard drive?

very easy, if its SATA you will need a sata data cable, and sata power cable(usually included with the power supply)

also you might need a caddy (the thing the hard drive sits in) but there will probably be spares inside your computer.

The most common thing you wont have is a SATA cable

What is greater kb or MB?

I'm going to assume that the "mb" should actually be "Mb". There is a HUGE difference between the two. Both are, as well as the "k", abbreviations for engineering prefixes. The "m" is for "milli", which represents millionth's, or decimally; 0.001. The "M" is for "Mega", with represents millions, or decimally; 1,000,000. The "k" is for "kilo", which represents thousands. With all of that said, the difference between them is a factor of 1,000, either larger or smaller, depending on whether that is a "m" or a "M". Hope that helps!
