If you're talking about the 20" factory 5 spokes w/ the 5 lug/5.5" bolt pattern off of a Ram 1500, then the answer is YES - you can mount them successfully on a '98 1500. Be aware that there is a very small hub diamater difference between the two vehicles though. The newer Rams have a slightly smaller wheel hub diameter than the '98. However, they will fit. First, you need to make sure that the wheel is pressed onto the hub with as much force as possible to seat it as best you can. Then, be certain to tighten the lug nuts in a cross diagonal order as tight as you can. And, most importantly, don't forget to torque-down your lug nuts after driving 50 miles or so, because as the wheels fully seat on the hubs, they will naturally loosen some of the nuts (ie. I had 3 come off completely before I checked mine). But since I re-tightened them, I have had no problems since - I have put about 5,000 miles on my truck with the new rims. By the way, they look great on a '98. GOOD LUCK!!! The 8 lugs swap as well and the center caps are interchangable. 17" alloys with old center caps are sharp on a 2nd generation 2500. Make sure the larger tires don't rub the brake lines when you turn!

Take tire off, take caliper and brakes off, take off axle nut, take off caliper, take off three bolts from back side of bearing hub assembly (may have to turn steering to get bolts off). You can put a bearing puller or use something to move spline shaft back further. Use a slide hammer and slotted flange to "bang" out wheel hub assembly bearing, (most parts stores have these to rent and you get your money back on return). Parts stores also let you rent the axle nut socket. Ssince most people don't have this size.

If this doesn't work because it is seized, take the whole housing off (some are cast aluminum, mine was).....three nuts, two are usually 13/16 and the bottom one 15/16" take the whole housing off, hammer down on it to get loose. Take to a place with a press....pepboys, local tire shop...make some phone calls. Have them press it out and put the new one in. Total cost of project: 200$ for wheel bearing hub assembly 50$ labor at pepboys to press old out and new in.....and 8 hrs. labor if you have air tools.

the most common thing this time of year is the thermostat. it may be stuck open or be too hot of a thermostat. i use a 195 degree in summer then put in a 180 in the winter. also check the heater core and housing. the heater core may be bad or clogged or maybe the housing is full of debree this happens in areas that are heavy in falling leaves. also it could be a matter that you are low on antifreeze. finally i would check the cable to the heat selector on the dash. it is common for them to beak in the plastic cover. to check this see if you can move the butterfly valve that supplies the heater core by hand. hope this helps.

I SPLICED THE PLASTIC VACCUUM HOSE WITH A RUBBER HOSE AND IT FIXED MY PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2001 RAM AND HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM.
