My Shadow did this and come to find out the timing was a bit off. It ran fine one day and gradually got worse and worse and I lost power. I replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump and a gazillion other things as recommended by the dealer. Then a friend of mine that has a Dodge Daytona had the same issue. He said that over time the bolt holding the distributer in place had got loose and threw off the timing. I adjusted the distributer a bit and re-tightened the bolt and have not had a problem since.
My 93 Dodge Shadow is doing the same thing, I have a sneaky suspicion it is the fuel filter. I will fill you in after I have replaced it. Squirrlegirl Classic symptom in most cars is a gradual loss in top speed as the fuel filter clugs. Don't forget a clogged Catalytic converter.

The computer on my 89 Shadow is right behind the drivers side headlight. You will need to remove the battery and if you follow the air intake hose from the engine, it should go to a odd shaped plastic box with a wire harness on it. Inside this box is your computer. Dodge put it in there for cooling purposes and for the air intake sensors. At first glance I thought it was dumb because it could get wet/moist if you drove in the rain/fog/snow. But to this day, it hasn't gone out.

Im not sure if your vehicle has a speedometer cable or if its a digital type thing with all wires and an electric motor opperating your SpeedOMeter but if it is a cable driven one, then just disconnect the cable from the speedometer from inside the vehicle... raise the vehicle if needed, I think its easier to get it from top, if the vehicle has the A413 transmission, remove the 10mm bolt holding the Speed Sensor in because the SpeedOMeter cable is running threw the middle if it, it does have a round O Gasket on it so it will be tight removing it, but it will come out with alittle wiggle and install the new the same way as you took it off.

The initial air intake is a small hole in the driver's side front fender. From there it goes into a box that filters water then on to the air filter and down through the bottom of it into the motor. The MAF sensor is part of the intake on the motor.

If you've got a 2.2 L single-point fuel injection engine and you're not getting power to the boost pump then you need to drop the tank and replace it. Confirm this first by listening for a whirring noise out of the tank when you first turn the key to ON. If no sound and all relays and fuses are good then lower the tank and check for voltage at the pump connection. If there is voltage, the pump is at fault. Replace it. A OEM pump will run you about $140-150, depending on your source. No voltage in the feed line? Find the break and repair it. Retest. Hope that helps

Well, there's no real way to bypass a starter on an car with an automatic transmission. On a manual, you can push the car and pop the clutch to make the engine turn over. There is a way to determine if your starter is working but your starter solenoid isn't. You arc the two terminals on the starter (with the car in park/parking brake on) with a screwdriver or piece of wire. If the starter turns/sounds normal, it's most likely the solenoid.

It can be a few things, but my first guess would be a leaking vacuum lines. The car is 13 years old. Replace all the vacuum lines. Do them one at a time as to not get confused. Very inexpensive repair. Be sure and check the large vacuum line going to the brake booster. Just buy plenty of line in the various sizes to do the job.

Answer to this depends upon which timing you want to change. 1. If you want to change the igition timing, this is done by loosening the distibutor. You will need a timing light. You can ususally get service manuals at the local library to give you the procedure. 2. If you want to change the cam timing, this will require you to remove the timing belt. If the cam timing has changed, it is likely because the timing belt is failing. This is very common once the timing belt has anywhere between 45k and 60k miles on it. You are best to replace the belt if it is worn enough to jump timing.

Only the Turbo II, III and IV engines had the intake air temp sensor and possibly the 3.0L V6 but I'm not sure on that one. The N/A 2.2L and 2.5L and the Turbo I do not have this sensor. On the engines that do have it, it is located in the intake manifold between the runners for the number 2 and 3 cylinders.

It is on top of the fuel tank. Just a word of advice. Spend the extra money and get an OEM fuel pump from the dealer. It may cost a little more but worth it in the long run. The fuel pump I bought for my 89 from napa lasted about 9,000 miles before it went out. It was under warranty so I exchanged it...the next one lasted about 3,000 miles. I don't know if I have just bad luck or what, but since I bought an OEM pump from the dealer, it hasn't let me down....30,000 miles later. I only say this because replacing the fuel pump is alot of work for the home mechanic. Not hard work...it is just taking down the gas tank and all is a pain in the a$$.

It is bolted by one bolt. make sure you have a small can to catch fuel in the line and a rag. wear eye protection if your doing it on your back. Pay attention to the 2 fuel line and where they came from from the old filter. It is an easy change. 5 min max.
