step 2: my grandson neglected to tell me! On your remote for your tv might be an <strong>"input" button</strong>. I don't understand why you would have Direct TV (sattelite) and cable TV? However, it depends on the input/output combinations of each component. I have my coaxial cable from my sattelite to the sattelite in jack on the sattelite receiver, the out to TV coaxial from the sattelite receiver run to my VCR plugged to antenna in on the VCR and a coaxial cable from the VCR to the TV coaxial antenna in on the TV. That way, you can watch sattelite without turning the VCR on, but the sattelite receiver has to be off to watch VCR or VHS tapes. Then, run video patch cords (red, white and yellow) out of the DVD to the TV (if the TV has those types of inputs on the back) If you want all three components (sattelite, VCR and DVD) to run through surround sound and NOT the TV, run only the yellow video cord from the DVD to the TV. Run the red and white to the surround sound receiver for each component. Your surround receiver should have multiple inputs for sattelite/cable, VCR and DVD.

No normally the DVD player will just say that it can not read the disk. If the disk is damaged, dirty, wet, or even broken in places then it can damaged the laser and other equipment.

Most new DVD players can read pretty damaged disks.

Easiest/fastest way. Run the sattelite coaxial cable to the "sattelite in" jack on the back of the sattelite receiver, run a coaxial cable from the "out to TV" jack of the sattelite receiver to the "antenna in" jack on the VCR and a coaxial cable from the "out to TV" jack of the VCR to the "antenna in" coaxial of the TV. Then, run audio/video cables (red, white and yellow) from the "video out" (yellow) of the DVD player to the "video in" of the TV and the red and white cables out of the DVD to the red and white jacks of the TV. Audio out (left and right) of the DVD to audio in of the TV. If the TV has 4 in/out jacks to accept component (red, white yellow) cables, run the component cables from the out side of the sattelite box, VCR, DVD and video game seperately to the TV inputs, 1,2,3 and 4. You would then simply use the TV remote to change inputs to switch from component to component. The only coaxial would be the sattelite signal from the dish to the sattelite receiver.

no it was in no way able to play dvds which is part of the reason its competition tookover it started out against ps1 n64 so dvds didn't really matter then the ps2 came out and was the cheapest dvd player around and it played games

usually if you only have one av hookup on your tv you have to leave the specified DVD Player and Nintendo Wii plugged in and transfer the cords everytime you want to watch or play one and not the other..you are not able to hook both of them up at the same time..unless you have more AV outlets on the back of your tv...check there and if that doesnt work see the above plan(:
