Are twins born with different DNA?

Yes EVERYBODY has different DNA even if you are identical twins.

What is passed through umbilical cord?

The growing baby has wastes and needs oxygen and nutirnets through out its time in the womb... The placenta holds many tiny cappilaries( very small blood vessels) Half are babies, and half are moms. These blood vessels run very close to each other.. The oxygen and nutrients that the baby needs are diffused from the mothers cappilaries to the babys cappilaries. In other words the oxygen and nutrients in the mothers blood is passed to the babys blood with out touching, the tiny particles are small enough to go through the walls of the cappilaries. These much needed nutrients are then taken to the baby through the imbilical cord.

The baby also makes many waste products, carbon dioxide, urea(what makes up most of urine), extreme amounts of water, and salt are a few.. These waste go through the imbilical cord, to the babies tiny cappilaries in the placenta. Then it diffuses into the mothers cappilaries in the placenta.. The mother then gets rid of these waste products.

Why do people get their womb taken out?

women have hystertomies because they are having problems with fibroids( large benign bleeding tumours) that cause discomfort and pain, if they are not removed they can become cancerous.

Is it possible to feel the baby at only 1 week?

NO WAY! At one week the baby is way too tiny to be felt...people can barely detect that there is a baby at this stage. I'm 7 months pregnant and didn't feel the baby kick until 6 months into it. I heard if you're REALLY skinny you might feel it at 3-4 months, but that's in special circumstances.

What should a 26 week old fetus be doing?

Air sacks are developing in your baby's lungs, which means it just might be possible for your baby to take a breath at the end of this week. The air sacks will continue to grow for the next nine years.

This week the retina will also by completely developed, although his or her eyes are still sealed shut .

Your baby's brain is starting to register things like light and sound, although it doesn't make sense to him/her yet.

As hearing continues to develop, your baby will start to recognize your voice and even your partner's voice! Research has shown that newborns actually recognize familiar sounds after birth.

Your baby is about 1 2/3 pounds and is 14 inches long!

You are 14 weeks pregnant but your belly is not growing is your baby still alive?

Different people show at different rates. Just because your belly has not grown at 14 weeks doesn't mean that your baby is not alive. Can you feel your uterus growing above your pubic bone?

You should see a doctor, who can use a Doppler to detect a heartbeat at this point. He can also order an ultrasound to check on things.

Does a fetus have a soul?

Answers to this questions are unfortunately going to be more opinion then actual answers. Because, let's face it, not everyone believes the same things. Some believe that as soon as the two "parts" come together at the moment of conception, that the resulting genetic material has a soul. Others believe that there is no such thing as a soul. Most people though believe something between the two. I myself believe that most people earn their souls by age 5. (Yes, I believe that we earn our souls through good deeds).

The only definitive answer I can really give you is to say that in several places the Bible mentions life (and the soul) as breathing. No breath no life. Ex. Genesis 2:7 "and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul". Other references are Ezekiel 37:10, I Kings 17:17-21, and James 2:26. Since a fetus doesn't breathe it doesn't have a soul, according to biblical definition.

And the pope himself (I believe in the 1600's) said that a fetus is not a person until 120 days (18 weeks/4 months).

Hope this helps at least a little.

Does it mean the baby is coming really soon if you are at 36.5 weeks with your third child and your cervix has softened and the baby has dropped?

If it is your first baby this is about what you would expect, the baby will come when it is ready. 2/6/2008: I'm sure since you have already had 2 children that you are aware of what your body is telling you and are just anxious about the baby coming "early"... perhaps you are looking for some reassurance from other mothers, but be assured that anytime after 36 weeks, the baby could come and the important parts of baby's development are completed... but also know that your body can begin readying for baby's arrival WEEKS in advance of the actual birth date! I began dialating, softening and effacing at least three weeks before my son actually arrived! He ended up being 5 days late! You just don't know what will happen! That's why they call it "the miracle of birth"! Even your due date is really just a "guess" the doctor makes because the conception process is so mysterious and hard to pinpoint. Like the previous poster said, "baby will come when it is ready". That's so true! But be prepared that you may still have weeks ahead of you of waiting!

Why are legs slow to develop in a human fetus?

Because humans do not need them fully developed to survive. Notice the size of the head and torso. Early development is focused on the brain and other organs. A parent will care for the baby until the legs are strong.

What should your baby be doing at 17 weeks pregnant?

At 17 weeks your baby is practicing sucking his thumb and swallowing this week! The fingernails and toenails beds are developing this week too!

What is size of 17 week fetus?

When do chicks hearts start to beat?

If your ultrasound said fetal age is 7 weeks but your LMP was 9 weeks ago should you worry?

No, sometimes doctors get the dates wrong or sometimes the baby is a little ahead or behind in growth. I would go by the Ultrasound.

Why is elephant develops faster in the mother's womb?

Faster than what? Elephant pregnancies last for approximately 22 months.

If the male is o and the female o does it increase the chances of twin pregnancy?

No, twins are a result of genetic flukes or hyperovulation or artificial means. Hyperovulation is a condition that causes the mother to produce more than 1 egg at a time. Orgasm has nothing to do with how many babies you get and most mothers can expect 1 baby per pregnancy.

How can an unborn infant in the womb survive without breathing air?

The fetus gets all the oxygen he needs from the mother's blood by way of the umbilical cord. After birth, he must take his first breath and he will cry at the same time. This crying causes him to take in more air. The lungs will begin to work just as they do now in you.

Are all organs in the fetus complete at week 5?

no all the organs are not completely formed until week 13.

When your pregnant and you start to show can you still suck it in so its not noticeable?

No. And it's not good either for the baby. And be proud of the showingness because a baby is a precious gift.

Is it common for your baby to have a heartbeat of 72 bpm?

It depends on how old the baby is. If it's unborn or a newborn then no, that is uncommon and I would consult your doctor. An unborn or newborn's heart rate should be between 130 - 150 bpm with some variability, depending on how far along in development it is.

Also, it depends on how you got the number 72. If you were measuring the bpm yourself it is extremely likely that you picked up your heart rate and not the baby's. This can even happen in doctor's appointments but the doctor will notice and adjust the ultrasound monitor to pick up the baby's heartbeat.
