To get to the tension pulley, you have to take off the passenger side front tire as well as two small inner black fender wells. Without doing this you won't be able to change the belt. Also what is needed to turn the tension pulley is a 3/8 inch bar breaker. I couldn't get a rachet in the square because of the fender. After that its nothing more than putting the belt on the pulleys.

You are correct on the above, however there is a diagram that shows you how to put the belt back on the pulley. In my 1999 Ford Contour, once you open the hood, in the far upper left hand corner on the shock cover, BEHOLD there's the diagram that shows you how the belt goes back on!

This is listed in the owners manual and on a placard under the hood. Also any auto parts store can provide this info.

The first thing is to get a book on your car. Also check on the left side upper housing over the front strut. There should be a layout of the belt. you will also need a long 13 mm boxend wrench to use on the belt tensioner. turn your front wheels far to the right. Then remove the plastic cover (two screws) that allows access to that end of the crankshaft pully. The tensioner pully is just above & behind the crank pully. If you are older like me it's best to do this with two people as it gets a little hard to release the tension & fiddle with the belt to get it off & the new one on. Just follow the belt diagrams & the book instructions & it is fairly easy to do. I cannot stress to much that all people working on their own cars should not do so without getting a decent book on their car. Now if you want real adventure try changing the timing belt. First, remove the coolant tank, then the belt.

Unscrew the one bolt holding the tensioner in place. Installation is the reverse...

The fuel filter for the 1995-2000 Ford Contour 4 Cyl. (2.0 Liter 16 Valve) is located underneath the rear passenger door just in front of the rear tire. It is held by a screw clamp. You will only need a phillips-head and flat-head screwdrivers to remove this filter. Make sure car is OFF and you some means to collect any spilled gas (I use an old newspaper) 1. Open and close gas cap to relieve fuel pressure 2. Loosen Fuel filter clamp (you don't have to loosen the clamp completely, just enough to loosen and remove the fuel filter) 3. The new filter will have caps at each end. Remove these caps and use them to cap the ends of the old fuel filter (saving you a mess and saving your gas, too!) 4. Once you have loosed the fuel filter from the band clamp, take notice of how the filter is positioned (one side is rounded and the other is flat). There are retaining clips holding the fuel line to each end of the filter. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pop the retaining clamps off. Remove the fuel connector and use the caps to prevent spillage at both ends of old fuel filter. Remove old filter. 5. Installation is in reverse; use new fuel line retention clamps. Tighten the band clamp (but not too much!) 6. Turn car ignition to half-way turn to turn on fuel pump. Check for leaks. Done! p.s. You can take the remaining fuel from the old fuel filter and put it in your gas tank! Estemated time: 10-15 mins for shadetree Good luck!

Make sure you did not put it in backwards.

follow the top radiator hose to the engine, it should be attached to an outlet held on to the engine with two bolts, if you remove the two bolts and pull the outlet up you will find the thermostat

The switch is located on the side panel in front of the driver's side door.

1. Turn the ignition key to the off position.

2. Check under the vehicle for leaking fuel.

3. If you do not see or smell fuel, push the red reset button down. If the button is already set, you may have a different mechanical problem.

4. Turn the ignition key to the on position for a few seconds, then turn it to the off position.

5. Check under the vehicle again for leaking fuel. If you see or smell fuel, do not start your vehicle again. If you do not see or smell fuel, you can try to start your vehicle again.

Ford wants $220.00 for the battery cable harness and do not even have it available. I replaced mine with a battery terminal with a post on top with wing nut available at most auto parts stores. I cut all the wires from old terminal and installed ends on each wire that crimp on and will fit on the post of the new terminal. Cost around $8.00 for everything to replace positive side.

Most Ford's use 6x8 speakers. In the aftermarket world you can use 5x7's if they have the extended mounting tabs. Be aware though that 5x7's are great mids and will not provide the same bass response that a true 6x8 will deliver.

Best accessed if you remove the passenger side tire and look just past the front struts.

This may be a cause... My wife's 95 contour had to have the vacuum temp settings control unit replace 2 times. If you are constantly changing settings it really blows the valves in the climate control center...

Directly underneath the bottom of the rear seat.

Remove the tire and wheel. Remove the axle end cap. Remove the bearing seal. Remove the bearing. Reverse the process to install the new bearings.

check the owners manual for a common fuse that effects all the components, or maybe a relay. hope it helps. duboff
