How much oil does 2003 ford excursion diesel?

The answer depends on what your engine size is. I am almost certain that all diesel Excursion either came with the 7.3 Liter or the 6.0 Liter. According to my Chilton repair manual for all Ford Excursions on page 1-39, they say the capacity for the diesel engine is 15 quarts. Their disclaimer states "*All capacities are approximate. Add as necessary to bring to the appropriate level." In my "7.3 Liter Power Stroke Direct Injection Turbo Diesel - Owner's Supplement Guide" it also states that the engine oil capacity is 14.2 L (15.0 quarts) and that this includes 1.9 L (2 quarts) in engine oil filter. When I change the oil and oil filter every 5000 miles in my 7.3L engine, I usually put in about 14 quarts of oil and then "add as necessary" after I run the engine. If you have a 6.0L, a simple ratio equation indicates that you should use about 12.3 quarts of oil. So I would start with 11 quarts and "add as necessary". It is best not to overfill any fluids on a vehicle.

How much should it cost to replace tie rods on ford excursion?

Outter Tie Rods are one of the easiest things to replace on a car. You should be able to do it yourself in your garage, or drive way with minimal tools.. You'll need a level service, a good jack, a jackstand (preferrably two so you can have both sides in the air) a box wrench set and an adjustable wrench or a monkey bar.

You'll have to remove the tire.

Then you'll remove a cotter pin that's through a castle nut on the tie rod end.

Then you'll either use a special tool to "pop" the tie rod end out or you'll beat the daylights out of it with a hammer until it's out. Since you're replacing it you don't care about the threads.. :D Be careful not to break the spindle though.

Once detached from the spindle you put whiteout on the spot where the inner and outer tie rods meet. This is so you don't have your alignment too far off when you put it back together. Put the monkey wrench/adjustable on the innter tie rod and then a wrench on the outter tie rod (or visa-versa). Work hard to loosen them up and viola.. You can spin the outter tie rod end off. Then you slap the new one on, put it all back together and call it a day. You're seriously looking at 1 - 2 hours of work if you're a complete newb when it comes to all things mechanical. If you have the slightest idea of what you're doing it should only take about 30 minutes. You'll spend most of your time getting the car in the air, on jack stands and removing the tires in my opinion.

Hope this helps you, or someone else out there ..

(if it's the inner tie rods that's a little more involved)

What causes the number 45 fuse to blow when you hit a hard bump or sometimes just by putting it in gear on a 2002 Ford Excursion?

Answer 1It really doesn't matter what the fuse number is. Any time a fuse "blows," it blows for only one of two reasons:

1. It is defective or,

2. A short has occured in the wiring of the circuit which that fuse was intended to protect. If replacement fuses continue to blow, that is a sure sign there is a short circuit.

The fact that the fuse blowing [or short] occurs only when there is jarring to the vehicle due to a bump, or movement of gear selector, suggests that the short is not there all the time, and is therefore what is refered to as an "INTERMITTENT" short.

To find the short, determine what circuit is related to that fuse, and then trace the wiring from the fuse to the end(s) of the circuit.

You will be looking for something like the "hot" wire being in contact with a sharp metal edge, where vibration has caused the insulation on the wire to have been "chaffed" to the point that the bare metal conductor wire has been exposed, and depending on the severity of a jolt, bump or vibration, allowed the energized metal conductor wire to come into contact with the GROUNDED metal.

Once the defect has been identified, the fix is to "reinsulate" the wire using a high quality "electrical" tape, or one of the "paint-on" wire insulating compounds. Good luck.j3h.

Answer 2 - A personal experience

I to had a similar sitiuation in which the two small gauge wires that run over the steering column and down the gear shift which power the overdrive off/tow haul switch rubbed through. I had to remove the plastic housing and cut/splice and heat shrink to repair.

How does check valve function?

Commonly used in water, gas, oil, and chemical applications. A check valve has a housing with a "flapper" (for lack of better words) which only opens one direction to allow for flow of materials. If the flow for some reason is reversed, such as high back pressure, the "flapper closes and seals to prevent any back flow.

How do you replace your DRL bulbs on a 2003 Tahoe?

to get to the DRL bulb, you first need to remove the front grill. simple process: pop the hood, find all the little push pins that hold the radiatior/fan cover on and pop them out with a flathead screw driver. set pins and top plastic aside. 10mm hex driver removes bolt holding grill to radiator A frame. set bolt aside. using Phillips screwdriver, turn the black plastic retainers, 1 at each corner of grill assembly, counterclockwise until click. using flathead wrapped in rag push very sides of grill where meets fender inward to release the clips. remove grill. DRL is in the bottom headlamp assembly and is the closest bulb to the center of the vehicle. remove the bottom headlamp assembly: push the clip of the assembly closest to the center of vehicle until it releases(push hard) then using a flathead, do the same to the clip of assembly taht is towards the outside of vehicle. look at DRL bulb housing, push tab of the housing inside the headlamp assembly and turn that housing until bulb comes out. to remove bulb, use a flathead screwdriver and pry the tabs holding bulb plug inside housing until bulb comes out. voila. reverse to reassemble.

AnswerThe assemblies are snapped into place tightly. You need to pull on the lense from the outside edge toward the center to release the catch. (Once you get them out you will see how simple it is)Don't do it in the cold, the plastic may crack. Once out they take a 3156 bulb I think.Good luck.

Where is the horn located on a 2005 ford excursion?

I have a 2002 Excursion; My horn is located under the battery tray on the passenger side. They are between the fender and the inner apron. To get to them you have to remove the bolts in the plastic wheel liner, plus the plastic pushpins. Pulling this back should revel the horns. They are fastened onto the inner apron by one no#8 bolt which is located from the battery side of the apron. They have a clip that works similar to a clothes pin, pinch them togather and pull wires free. Good luck

How do you reset the service engine soon light on 2000 excursion?

The best....and recommended way is to use the OBD II code reader to do it. You can also unplug the battery for a few minutes. You'll then need to drive the vehicle a few miles, with at highway speeds included, to "teach" the computer what settings to use. If you have not fixed the problem that lit the SES light, it'll just come back on.

Why does your Z34 Monte Carlo lose power when the hot engine light goes on and the temp gauge red lines?

Three tests. 1st, when engine is running, check for exhaust pressure coming out. You can have a bad catalyctic converter, the hotter it gets, it blocks off and causes the engine to overheat and stall out. 2nd, I gather you have checked your coolant level at the radiator cap to be sure you have a full radiator first. Start engine and let run for about 5 minutes (with cap in place), remove cap to see if coolant is circulating, if not you have a bad thermostat, replace. 3rd, if your coolant level seems to be brownish or low often with no visable leaks, check engine oil in morning before starting vehicle. Notice if your level is too high, it could have coolant in the engine from a bad head gasket. another way to verify that is to blot dipstick with a paper towel, if there is water in the oil the water expand up into the towel where as (cold) oil will slowly imbed into the towel. Any engine overheating effects performance, it's best to stop the vehicle before it gets to that stage!
