A Goose has been known to sleep for a long time....seriously. I once knew this goose that could sleep for 24 hours straight and still be tired. Scientist have studied the problem for decades and have yet to determine why a goose needs so much sleep, "A Goose sleeps so much because she can", said Dr. Mike Fowl, a Researcher for the Society of Goose Watchers of America, adding that, "A Goose has a very specific diet and doesn't really like anything you feed them so its reasonable to think that theres some relation between food and sleep but its hard to say because they are resistant to any type of treatment and are known to act out badly when pressed and then were all screwed so we really haven't made progress in the area." The group insists that there is a cure for this and hopes to introduce the "Goose Prod" for long term sufferers in the spring.

Being called a goose would be like being called a little silly.

Snow geese lay their eggs in a nest. Does that qualify them to "live in a nest" as was asked? Snow geese nest in the arctic. There isn't much nest material around and the nests are pretty humble collections. Mostly the nest is made from the parents' own down. After the eggs hatch and the surviving chicks learn to fly, they all head south for the winter (leaving their nests behind). Then they come back next year to do it all again.

Unfortunately, male geese do not help incubate the eggs. It would be nice if they did because the mother has to sit on them almost constantly for 30 days.

The only way the male helps out during the nesting period is to stand guard (between 2 feet to 10 yards away) to protect the mother from predators. And from my observations, most really don't put their heart and soul into it.

Believe it or not, just like humans do. They have nostrils at the top of their beaks and of course a mouth. Geese also yawn, by the way.

Some times by a area where there is a lake or a pond. Others lay theirs hidden in cattails on the side of ponds. And last somewhere that doesn't have a huge population of other ducks, geese, and people.
