Squinting blocks out light from entering through the outer parts the cornea then trough the iris. Squinting can improve your vision during bright conditions if the central part of your lens has a better shape than further from the center. But as the diameter of the lens is reduced squinting further - eventually the improvement is traded off by the maximum possible resolution which reduces as the diameter reduces.

Most allergies to eyewear arise from the nickel metal in eyeglass frames, even frames that claim to be another metal (ie-titanium) usually still have trace amounts of nickel metal in them. If the metal on the frame is turning green where it touches your skin, this is usually a sign of nickel metal allergy.

If you do truly have an allergy to polycarbonate lenses (which I've never heard of) you can just use standard plastic (CR-39) or glass lenses.

Your lens are not ground correctly for eye axis rotation, the problem can be fixed but you'll probably have to see an opthamologist MD.

Very few transition glasses will never fully change back and will have a very tiny amount of tint still in them. However, an average tinted transition lense will usually fully change back within a few minutes of entering a darker or indoor area.

Look in Walmart's Notions dept. They have eyeglass repair kits that have these.

Unfortunately the above poster has common misconception about what vision therapy is. Vision therapy is not limited to helping the patient see clearly. 80% of all information being processed by the brain is visual information. Vision is the process of visual input being transmitted from the eyes to the brain, the brains interpretation and processing of this information which ultimately leads to an output. I do not know the nature of this child's vision problems, but as a Vision Therapist I have worked with hundreds of children with visually related learning disabilities such as ADD, dyslexia, letter and number reversals, tracking issues (skipping and re-reading words). I would suggest the child has a visual efficiency information by an Optometrist who is a fellow in the College of Optometrist's in Vision Development. This doctor will evaluate the impact of the child's vision on academic performance and make suitable recommendations for treatment.
