What was their samurai man responsibilities?
These life-trained warriors were taught by pre-determined family members who were trained by pre-determined family members. These honors were passed down to both male and female decendents. No outside agents were permitted to deserve the honors reaped by these men from all citizens that they came in contact with in the daily travels. Not all of these warriors traveled on horse-back. Many felt that they received supernatural benefits from walking the roads and feeling the wind on their bodies. The armor they wore were made by only select people trained and blessed over years and apprenticed for even more years. This straw and bamboo were soaked and weathered to become like leather. Some swords made for these warriors were made of layered steel that was turned, struck and added to over a million times, and these were observed by selected older warriors. They were also blessed with layers of blood from other warriors from the past and re-incarnation was a big part of the warriors religion. Because no one ever really died, these swords were considered living icons and were given specific names and specific histories that were orally passed from generation to generation. True warrior swords are priceless.

Do people vote to decide who governs japan?
People do not elect their Prime Ministers, they elect their representatives--members of the House of Representatives and House of Councillors--the members of the two houses then vote on a Prime Minister. It usually is the president of the political party that holds the majority. Prime Ministers in Japan do not have term limits either. People vote for political parties. If one candidate wins in the upper house, the house of councillors and another wins in the lower house, the house of representatives, the results of the lower house stands, and that candidate for Prime Minister is elected.

"To serve" as in service and loyalty to the Emperor. The samurai was a class of warrior defending the Japanese Empire, surrendering their life and dedicating their sword to the command of the Holy Emperor. One is not a samurai without adherence to the philosophy of Bushido. The concept of "do" as a variation in pronunciation of "tao" is a universal Asian philosophy which embodies the concept of ideal action, and harmony and balance of mind, body, and spirit - perfection in all things.
The term "Samurai" means "to serve the nobility." As a warrior class highly trained in unarmed combat and Kendo (sword fighting), the Samurai pledged their loyalty to the noble master they served, or to the Emperor. They eventually rose to power economically, and in political affairs, gaining great influence as advisors and protectors of various Emperors throughout the centuries. Many of the Samurai worked as regional magistrates, helping to settle disputes, enforcing the laws, and keeping the peace. Although the Samurai developed a strict philosophy of honor and code of conduct, which heavily influenced the Japanese culture at large, they held elevated rights and authority in early times to execute anyone who showed them disrespect.

How did Japan lose its independence?
Japan has always been independent. Unlike many other countries in Asia, Japan was never taken as a colony by a Western power. The only small footnote is that Japan was occupied by the U.S. following World War II (from 1945 to 1951), but that is different from colonization.
There were a few reasons for this. One was that it was tradition for Japan to have an emperor and people might not like the change to a shogun. The second is that if the shogun made a bad decision, he could blame the emperor. He had someone to blame, and was also not threatened because of this. The emperor would be hated.
What does the red dot or circle on the Japanese flag mean?
The red circle on the Japanese Flag represents the rising sun, as Japan is one of the first countries to see the sunrise. Japanese people call their country Nippon, which means land of the rising sun.
The basic White Flag with Red Circle is a simple version of the flag that has Sun Rays radiating out from the Red circle. This image depicts the sunrise.
The rising sun is associated with brightness, center of attention, rulers, messiahs, cleverness, greatness, strength, and most of all, power (control). That is why the clever Japanese chose this meaningful symbol. The Japanese believe that they are one of the most powerful and strongest nations in the world.

Who governs the people in a self-governed country?
Self-governed people are people who govern themselves. They decide in every aspect of their lives what they do and how they do it. If, of course, what they do injures a person, a victim, an accuser, who is willing to testify in court of their injuries, they can be held accountable for their actions. Otherwise, a self-governed individual can do anything that individual wants and no one can stop them. If one wants to drive down the road at night with ones lights off, they can as long as they do not cause injury to another individual. Such a self-governed individual governs him/herself. Their rights to this expression are infinite. One cannot write down the number of things a self-governed person can do because they are infinite. If a person wants to build a nuclear power plant in his/her backyard, as long as not one atom of nuclear waste lands on their neighbor or his/her property, that person can build and operate such a device. If a neighbor is smoking tobacco and the smoke drifts into a neighbors house, and that neighbor complains, the court system is there to make a determination as to injury, extent of that injury and just compensation for that injury. In the case of the U. S. constitution, a very few common rights were in fact written down. This was to make certain they were not taken away or denied, but again, to the extent to which individuals can express themselves is infinite. Thus, in the 9th amendment, the explanation is put forth that the few rights that were written down are not the only rights. There are in fact 'other rights'. They were smart not to attempt to write them all down because it is an impossibility to write down an infinite number or rights, or anything at all for that matter. Realistically, a person needs this infinite number of rights to fully express their pursuit of happiness. The law, or constitution in the case of the United States, is mainly an explanation to the peoples' employees as to the limitations they have to follow. They are instructed to make absolutely certain to respect certain specific rights and all rights in general of the self-governed and organize the business they do for the governed in a certain way. Therefore, public servants are not self-governed and in fact are heavily bound and restricted in what they can and cannot do. There are no such restrictions instructed to the self-governed body. They can do what ever they want as long as they do not injure another individual or group of individuals. With this, a certain mystery can be illuminated. The people have a right to 'bear arms'. This means 'to show'. This presupposes that if you have a written right to 'show your arms' you also have a right to carry and conceal said 'arms'. One cannot show they have a weapon unless it is already hid from view. Otherwise, a person would have to brandish the weapon. Indeed, brandishing a weapon would be a right but not one a person who always want to exercise. In the case of the U. S., the wide scope of freewill by the people has eroded. Since these self-governed allowed its employees to usurp their rights, it is commonly thought that in order to restore these rights, it will require a fight. Q. R.
