Imperialism led to more political instability. There were feuds among the leaders. The liberals fought for new land reforms. Many new independent countries were struggling with civil wars. These were the various negative effects of imperialism in Latin America.

People from western Europe wanted to colonize the Americas because there was tons of beavers in the northern Americas, and back in Europe, there was a huge trend in fashion, beaver pelts were a huge thing, and any self respecting Frenchman would not go out without a beaver hat. Also, people wanted land. Both the French and the British wanted to be the most powerful, and most wealthiest country. It ended up in war.

The Age of Imperialism is in most Western terms, defined as the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries when the US (and Western allies) expanded their economic and political control over other countries. And, in many cases established or continued the rule of colonies.

Yes most European nations have gone through a period of imperialism. In the modern world this is impossible to repeat but today's superpowers (Russia, China, and America) are going through a similar phase using market influence and trade strengths.

Religion in the American colonies was primarily Christian. The Puritans wanted to purify the Anglican church (Church of England) and founded their colony in the north east with this goal in mind. They belived in a fierce God who was ready to punish sinners, hence we have the Salem Witch Trials later on. Because they did everything for the glory of God, we get the vigorous and devoted Puritan work ethic. The Pilgrims on the other hand were in actuality Separatists who wanted to separate form the Anglican Church. Before they landed in Plymoth, they had gone to Denmark to escape persecution in England (which is the reason for most religious groups leaving Europe for America) and then decided to come to America.

The Spanish colonies in America were pirmarily Catholic as were the French. However, Lord Baltimore founded Maryland for Catholics to practice Catholacism in the New World. It was a place where people had religious protection to worship as they pleased. (But this was really specifically for Christians)

As American colonies grew, other forms of Christianity joined the party, so to speak. For example, the holiday we now know as Christmas (meaning Christ's Mass) was brought over by the Germans.

Judaism, Islam and other non-Christian religions were not prevalent whatsoever in the colonies because those followers were persecuted in America. It was not until later that the Irish Catholics or Jews came to America.

too many countries wanted to colonize in Africa and Asia so they fought. thus, the outbreak of cookie monsters revenge.

A majority of Mexican Imperialism on the United States' part was during the Mexican-American War from 1846-1848. The result of Mexico's loss in the war caused them to lose more than 500,000 square miles of land, which is 55% of its national territory. This caused people to relocate back into Mexico, or caused the people inhabiting Texas during the time to appeal for American citizenships.

The war was unnecessary and unjust on the United States part. They were drove purely by the idea of Manifest Destiny. Even President Grant "to this day regards the war as one of the most unjust ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation."

Also as a result of the war Mexico lost around 13,000 soldiers compared to the 2,000 Americans killed. Mexico also faced the destruction of much of their land, and poverty as a result of the destruction and relocation efforts made by Texans.

Colonial territories usually encompassed areas controlled by rival local groups. As a result, colonial rulers effectively pacified these conflicts by taking power. Additionally, the chess game between the Great Powers was often less violent on a day-to-day level than local conflicts which were always at a simmer. (However, when the Great Powers had a conflict, it was massive.)

Spain, the country that funded Columbus's discovery of the New World, claimed and colonized all of the land from what is now California to Texas, as well as Nevada and the Four Corner states, all the way through Mexico and most of Central and South America, and many of the Caribbean islands. However, Portugal claimed what is now Brazil in South America, and France, England, and Holland colonized parts of South America and the Caribbean.

Further east in North America, what eventually became the Louisiana Purchase was colonized by the Spanish, but then eventually that colony was acquired by France. England owned colonies from Georgia and into Canada, although Holland, France, and Sweden had previously owned some of those areas.

All in all, if success was determined by land area, the Spanish were the most successful at colonizing the New World.

There were many groups that were against imperialism as a policy for the United States. Prior to the Civil War, many northerners were opposed to acquiring more territory in the west because they feared the spread of slavery. After the Spanish-American War, some of the old "Radical Republicans" and other members of Congress opposed the idea of acquiring colonies. A large portion of the Democratic Party, led by William Jennings Bryan, opposed annexation of colonies. Anti-imperialists reminded the nation of our anti colonial heritage. They quoted Lincoln in reminding the nation that no man is good enough to govern another man without that man's consent. Many anti-imperialists were racists or appealed to those with racist ideas. They questioned whether is was wise to bring "nonwhite" people "under our flag." Many simply opposed imperialism because it would be too costly and would force the US to send American troops into "harm's way" to put down any resistance to our taking over other lands.

Difference between colonization and apartheid

Many. One difference was large European (predominantly Dutch) settlement in Africa and building clear (legal) infrastructure and set of institutions to segregate the native African population, starting with physical segregation and ending with social and family, education and employment opportunities. With the exception of the Americas and Australia, the scale of European settlement and development of a legal system to support the population segregation in South Africa was unprecedented.

A majority of the early settlers of New England came for religious reasons. Others came to find a better economic living than they had in Great Britain. New England was settled by people who were similar to those Englishmen who settled in the Southern colonies. The Puritan heritage continued to shape New England long after the Winthrops and Cottons had died out. New Englanders were of independent spirit. The protests against British policies began in New England.

we have to know and understand that we have way more things than people in africa do and in parts of asia. we have health care, trasportation and a chace to go to school for free which we take for granted

it was actualy both because they saw it has a new channel of comunication but ended up dislikeing it of the causes that the europeans took over and made them slaves.

It created lasting political and economic instability in African countries.
