A speech for a vote of thans for India's Independence Day should start by thanking the people for being there. It should then talk about how thankful you are for India's independence and give several reasons for being thankful, highlighting achievements obtained by India being independent. most Hindu's don't swear.. it would be offensive to swear or use foul language in front of them especially the older generation..
partaking in too much alcohol is also offensive to many Hindu's particularly a woman doing so.. it is more common for men to have drinks but too become drunk and act silly would be looked down upon at a social occasion..
don't prepare beef for Hindu's or in the company of them.. it is really offensive to them and they are generally polite but would (and should) never eat it.. most Hindu's avoid meat altogether although unfortunately many westerners are eating more of it and heaven help me i have met Brahman's who confess they are eating beef!!
avoid cursing in the name of God, Lord, even Jesus.. my boyfriend is Hindu and crosses himself when he goes by a church as he respects all religions..
in general if most of us behaved more like Hindu's and Buddhists the world would be a much more amenable place.. hope this helps
