How does durahide compares to leather in durability and resilience?
I have to disagree with Ashley's poor service, Ashley in fact has one of the Best customer services i have ever seen, considering i work for the furniture indusries.
I Must say the problems the Person above is stating is infact Poor service from the "Place Of Purchace" You can infact Order Many Different parts from ashley-from Whatever You Bought- However if you Bought it from a place that Doesn't give two rats about there customers and only the money well then... there you have it. I have Order parts for my Customers and 2-3 weeks Parts are in hand and a Work Order is set in place for a repair"On Ashleys Dollar" Maybe before anyone else starts Banging Suppliers they should do some HomeWork and they would know the Truth, Yes Over time durahide will start to get hard, But for the price, It's alot cheaper then leather. But always keep in mind "Folks You Get What You Pay For."

I have to agree Ashley is does a poor job backing up their products. The sales people who sold us our durahide furniture told us that it was better than leather for families with children because it cleans up easier than leather and is more durable. He told us the only way to destroy it is to cut it with a knife and if that happens they have a patch kit that basically melts it back together with an iron. Just after two years three separate tears appeared within a matter of a few days. When I returned to Ashely they said sorry that model has been discontinued and they never heard of such a patch kit. They said the only way to fix it was to buy replacement covers, but they no longer make them. At three years now the cushions are cracking everywhere and it looks horrible - almost dissolving. Ashley has a poor product, poor customer service, and short term worthless warranties, BEWARE!!! is a fair assessment.

I agree as well. My wife and I spent $1500 on two Durahide couches and the "extended warranty" from Ashley furniture 3 years ago. First off, the quality of the craftsmanship of the couches, although fairly solid, leaves something to be desired. Second, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING COVERED IN DURAHIDE!!! If anyone would like some pictures of what can happen with this crap in just three years you can email me and I'll be glad to supply some. We began noticing the "cracks" within the first couple of years and were amazed by how quickly they multiplied. We are already in the market for another set of couches which pisses us off monumentally. Third, the Ashley furniture extended warranty is an ABSOLUTE JOKE. Their salespeople will lead you to believe that this is the warranty to beat all other warranties. They lead you to believe that it will cover anything, throwing out words like "breakage of frames, upholstery stains, etc." when in fact it does not. It does not cover reupholstering of the couch (which would cost them a fortune if it WERE part of the warranty) and it does not cover breakage of springs in any shape, form, or fashion (the two most common problems people face with furniture). So, in a sense, the warranty is POINTLESS. It is just a way for Ashley to bilk you of another $150-$250 of your hard earned money. If you are in the market for furniture and must have leather, then get 100% true leather. It will cost you more at first but will likely save you money in the long run. Also, avoid Ashley furniture like the plague. They could have said that durahide could harden and crack but they didn't. The salesperson even went as far as to say that he thought durahide was as durable and long lasting as true leather which was what sealed the deal for us and utterly sealed our fate. We will never buy another piece of furniture from those crooks again.

* A duvet is a bag filled with down, feathers, wool or other natural stuffing to create a warm bed covering that takes the place of quilts and bedspreads. Duvet is the French word for down, as in down from birds. Duvets are rather like comforters, except that they have replaceable, washable covers - much like large pillowcases. Duvet covers are useful because duvets usually cannot be washed. Water would ruin the stuffing. However, duvet covers can be laundered along with the sheets and pillowcases. This keeps the duvet fresh as well. Duvet covers button, zip or tie at the top to keep the cover secure.
A draftsperson produces technical drawings such as blueprints of various objects. Most drafting today is done by means of computers, using CAD (Computer Aided Design).
According to AOLstudybuddy:
Drafting is also called mechanical drawing. It is the process of representing topography, engineering works, buildings, and pieces of machinery by means of special drawings called mechanical or engineering drawings. The techniques of drafting are an important part of all types of engineering and manufacturing and are used in architecture and geology.
The basic purpose of a mechanical drawing is to show the exact shape and all details of an object. An ordinary perspective drawing gives no information about hidden details of the object. The technique of conventional drafting is to use two or more projections to represent solid objects. This technique relies on ideas learned in geometry. These projections are different views of the object and are not complete in themselves, but when viewed as a collection they represent every aspect and detail of the object being represented.

Can tufted carpet and woven carpet be differentiated by looking at them?
Yes you can, but you need to know if you are talking about machine tufted and woven carpet or hand tufted and woven carpet. The differences can't be explained without that knowledge.
Every landing shall have a min. length of 36 inches measured in the direction of travel. {pg. 53 in IRC Sections R311-R324}

Not to sound too critical but if you're not sure what to charge per sq. ft. or what to charge at any rate you should either re-think whether or not your up to the task of starting out in your new business or team up with someone with more knowledge in estimating or designing fire sprinkler systems. Sq. Ft. prices are usually averages figured out after the fact and are not a consistent or reliable way or bidding any system. Sure, they're good for ballparking projects that you may have installed 100 similar projects but there are just too many variables to simply want to throw out a sq. ft. number at people and hope to be profitable. My sincere advice would be to make the move from the field to the office with your current company if such an opening exists. Learn from the masters all about the contracting end of the business, learn how to estimate, some design principles and then start your business. I would recommend at least a year in full time estimating prior to tackling small T.I.'s and 13D projects maybe 2 years or more for becoming proficient in medium size ordinary hazard and light hazard commercial projects and additional years of training with knowledgeable estimators to tackle the larger and more complex systems and special hazards. I know you probably didn't want to hear all of this but just because you can crank a wrench and read plans doesn't mean you're ready to start your own business doing it. Good luck,
How many inches from the floor should a towel bar be placed and how far from the toilet?
standard height is 36 inches and if there is available wall space you should put it as close to the sink or shower/tub as possible.
Well, we're in the middle of finding out the answers to this very question as we speak. Obviously there are many variables, including the following - Size of home - the larger the home, the less expensive per sq. ft.
Timing - Simple supply and demand. Currently (mid 2007) we have a down market. Subcontractors are looking for more work as new home development has decreased. Additionally, price materials have decreased considerably. You win. Region - Not all areas will see down markets simultaneously. Labor differs from region to region as well. Amenities and Features -9 ft. ceilings, coffered ceilings, fireplaces, architectural roofing, fine carpentry, hardwood floors, etc. all add up considerably. It really depends what you're planning on building. In the home that we are currently building, I will be installing the hardwood floors, saving us about $15,000. So... the answer to your question? Somewhere between $50 and $150 per sq. ft. I know you'd like a better estimate, but that's like asking "How much does pizza weigh?". How big is it, what toppings, from which restaurant, etc. For what it's worth, we're looking at $70 per sq. ft. for our project outside of Chicago, during a great market period. This is for a 3,500 ft., 9 ft. ceiling, 3/4 brick 2 story. Last thing... include the cost of your time. You need to visit the site daily. I'm a writer, and am taking some time off to work on the project. I'm actually doing much of the labor, which allowed me to pull an extra 10% off the cost of most of the subcontractors. Hope this helps.
When designing a room how do you figure out what colors to use?
1. Warm colours advance and cool colours recede
The effect of painting a wall or ceiling a warm colour eg pink is to make the wall seem closer than it actually is - hence it's not a good idea to paint a low ceiling pink - it will seem even lower!
Similarly a room thatyou paint blue will appear larger than it really is.
2. Pale colours recede, strong colours advance
The effect of painting a wall or ceiling a strong colour is that it will appear much closer than a neutral colour; similarly painting a wall or ceiling a pale colour will usually make it appear further away than a neutral colour will.
3. Combinations of these two rules need some careful thinking through!
It is logical therefore that painting a wall or ceiling a pale pink will make it appear closer than a neutral colour, but not anywhere near as close as painting it a hot pink; similarly painting a wall a pale blue will make it seem the maximum distance away - this is sky blue and how it works!
So now you can pick your colour! So when thinking about what colour to paint a wall or ceiling, here are steps to follow:1. Consider the aspect - do you need a warm or cool colour?
2. Consider the distance effect of colours - how do you want to change the shape of the room?
3. Then, having decided what colours make good sense for the room, from these colours pick what you feel most comfortable with - you can't go wrong!

How do you determine the square footage of a house?
First you measure the width and then the lenght then multiply it. length times width.
first remove the striker plate if any screws are still holding it, drill out the old screw holes to at least twice the dia. of the screws , get hardwood dowels of the same size as the new holes put wood glue in the holes then tap in the dowels, wait for the glue to dry, sand the dowels to the same depth as the jamb, replace the striker.
For a quick fix, cut stick matches (don't use the head of the match) to the depth of the holes, push them into the holes and re-install the strike plate.
On average how much would it cost to furnish a house with three bedrooms and two baths?
If for yourself you can go top dollar but if you are just Stageing for sight appeal for prospective sale then you don't need to go top dollar
you don't always have to spend a lot to make it look like a top dollar job.
A good technician can make the simplest job appear like a work of art when all it invloves is just a paper and pencil-- how you use the tools is what creates the difference in outcome.

What is the formula to figure out wall space if the room is 100 sq ft and the ceilings are 9 ft?
Hi, Check out the web site for The Money Pit, they have on-line calculators to help you. A 100 sq/ft room would be 10' x 10'. Each wall is 9' high, so each wall would be 90 sq/ft for a total wall space of 360 sq ft.
