How do you adjust the headlights in a 2004 Expedition?

There is a way to do this correctly. I found out the hard way. The first thing is to loosen up the vertical housing screw behind the housing (10 mm screw). Next remove the two top horizontal screws completely (also 10mm screws). The third step is to turn the skinny horizontal screw behind the housing (the one with a very small head and the thread is bigger than the head) You will need a pair of long nose pliers or a very small box wrench. Do it counterclockwise if you want to raise the light or clockwise if you want to lower it. It takes many turns to make a difference, so be patient. Once it's at the desired height, reattach the two top screws and tighten them, but not completely. Next tighten the vertical one until it touches the housing, but do not over tight it, just until touches the bottom. Lastly, tighten the top screws again until they are secure and don't move anymore but once again don't over tight them. If further adjustment is needed make sure that you loosen up the top ones first and hold the light in place with your hand while tightening the screws to avoid any misalignment. Once I figured it out, it took me about ten minutes to do it correctly. Good luck!

How do you determine the axle gear ratio of a 1997 jeep wrangler sport?

There are three ways. 1: Some axles have tags on them that list axle ratio, required fluid, posi if equipped. 2: The dealer can tell from the VIN number. 3: If you count how many times you have to turn the drive shaft to get 1 full turn of the tires. ie: 3.5 turns to get 1 turn would be a 3.55:1 ratio.

How do you remove the ecu from a 2004 Nissan Xterra?

on the 2000 xtera 3.3L V6 the computer is located under the center console of the dashboard (straight down from the radio and on the tunnel of the floor) On the drivers side by the gas pedal there is a white plastic block wiring connector with a bolt in the center. As you remove the bolt the connector pulls out (when its out dont touch the pins on the computer as static electricity could ruin the computer) Now go to the opposite side (passenger side) pull the carpet down from the tunnel. Cut the plastic tie wraps from the big wiring harness that connects it to the ECM. Should be 2 one white one grey. Dont cut the wiring harness!!! Lift the harness up above the ECM. Remove the entire center console on the floor mounted to the tunnel. The one around the shift lever can be removed enough without removing the handles by moving the selector to low and the 4WD lever to 4WD low. lift console up and turn sideways. May need to remove the plastic trim from around the radio. Now theres 2 bolts holding the ECM bracket to the floor tunnel. remove them. When the ECM is completely loose slide it out toward the passenger side making sure the wiring harness is above it. It may need to be twisted and turned to get it out. On the side of the ECM there should be a piece of tape labeled diagnostic screw . Turning the screw clockwise for 2 seconds then counter clockwise will cause the service engine soon light to blink a pattern of trouble codes stored in memory. these codes are the same as the P0000 codes except a different chart is used. They are given by the light WITHOUT the ZEROS. and the numbers are different than the ones used by a scan tool. To CLEAR the CODES turn the screw clockwise again... codes will clear from memory. Then turn the screw counterclockwise. DO ALL THIS WHILE THE KEY IS IN THE RUN POSITION , ENGINE NOT RUNNING AND THE HARNESS CONNECTOR WITH THE BOLT IN THE CENTER IS CONNECTED TO THE PCM. INSTALLATION IS THE OPPOSITE OF REMOVAL!!!!........I always loved that part!!! The code chart can be had by going to the public library website then to EBESCO HOST look up auto repair enter the vehicle information then go to engine performance and find the chart for trouble codes when a scan tool is not available, because it probably wont be available when you break down. HOPE THIS HELPED!!!

Where is the leak detection pump on a 2004 jeep wrangler?

Will a 1990 Jeep hard top fit a 1997 TJ?

How do you take the doors off of a 2004 Jeep Wrangler X?

Unscrew the locking nuts off the hinges and lift them off. You'll have to disable your dome lights by either removing the fuse, or getting some clips to hold the switches in. Take off the bolts on the door hindges and lift of the material strap on the inside. You will have to work the door back and forth and upwards to get it out of the hinges

If you replace the resistor on the blower motor on 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee but still get only high speed or nothing from blower is there another possible cause?

If the fan runs only on high then it is probably the blower motor resistor, and not the blower motor itself. This is pretty standard in any vehicle. It should be located somewhere near the blower motor. --------------------------------------------
There are two circuits that power the blower motor. A relay switches between the two different circuits. The high speed circuit suplies battery voltage to the blower. when you set the blower speed switch to any other speed but high the current passes through the other circuit. The blower resistor is in this other circuit. Check the fuse that supplies power to this circuit, check the relay that switches back and forth between the two circuits. Check the switch. Check the wiring. A VOM (volt/ohm meter) is very useful for this type of trouble shooting.

Did the 97 TJ Wrangler have posi differentials as stock equipment?

It does not appear so. This actually leads to one of the common irritations of many off-road TJ drivers--axle twist/breakage, differential expansion, and bent housings. The TJ was equipped with a Dana 35C solid axle.

Anyone who is a fan of the famous 1992 Johnathan Lynn movie My Cousin Vinnie can attest.

Mona Lisa Vito: The car that made these two, equal-length tire marks had positraction. You can't make those marks without positraction, which was not available on the '64 Buick Skylark! (or stock/standard 1997 TJ Wranglers)

Vinny Gambini: Thank you, Ms. Vito. No more questions. Thank you very, very much. [kissing her hands] You've been a lovely, lovely witness.

Briefly, and pointing out a symantic tic, Jeep didn't call it positraction (that's a GM term). Jeep called it Trac-Lok (clutch-type mechanical), Tru-Lok (gear-type mechanical), Vari-Lok (gerotor pump), or Power Lok. The generic term as the beautiful Ms. Mona Lisa Vito pointed out is Limited Slip Differential.

How do you install a jeep airbag disarm switch?

I've been wrangling with this myself. There seems to be three components...

The disarm switch that any jeep key will turn. This mounts either to a space on the dashboard near the gear shift OR in the floor console where the change holder sits. These are found on eBay and an outfit called Jeepsareus.com.

The second piece is a wiring harness (which I cannot find), also where the wiring plugs into to disable the system, I assume it's the airbag control unit.

IF you pull either AIRBAG fuse it will disable the entire system, so that's not a good option.

The third is either a bezel that covers the switch for aesthetics, or instructions on how to install. Most dealers don't know how to deal with this and say it can't be done... except MOPAR manufacturers the parts and the manual discusses it. Which leads me to beloieve, they're either clueless or lazy or both.

How do you adjust the headlights on a 1999 Mazda 626?

There is an adjustment screw in the top or side of the headlight nacelle. Turn it one way and it raises or lowers the beam and the other one moves it sideways.
