Why would John in John ch 1 verse 18 say that no one has seen God when in Exodus ch 33 verse 11 it states that the Lord spoke to Moses face to face as a man speaks to his friend?

==Opinion== John means that no man can see God unless he has been changed. No man can stand in the presence of God unless his mortal body (Eyes) have been changes so that he may behold the Glory of God. Moses was given spiritual eyes so that he could see God, otherwise Moses would not have survived the Glory of God, but would have shrivelled up and died.

==Opinion== Clearly Exodus 33:11 does not mean that Moses saw God's face, for in vs. 18-23 of the same chapter, a complicated procedure is described whereby Moses is allowed to see just the back of God's glory. God specifically tells Moses, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." Exodus 33 18 Then Moses said, "Now show me your glory." 19 And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." 21 Then the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen." According to Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary (Public Domain) Moses then entreats a sight of God's glory, and is heard in that also. A full discovery of the glory of God, would overwhelm even Moses himself. Man is mean, and unworthy of it; weak, and could not bear it; guilty, and could not but dread it. The merciful display which is made in Christ Jesus, alone can be borne by us. The Lord granted that which would abundantly satisfy. God's goodness is his glory; and he will have us to know him by the glory of his mercy, more than by the glory of his majesty. Upon the rock there was a fit place for Moses to view the goodness and glory of God. The rock in Horeb was typical of Christ the Rock; the Rock of refuge, salvation, and strength. Happy are they who stand upon this Rock. The cleft may be an emblem of Christ, as smitten, crucified, wounded, and slain. What follows, denotes the imperfect knowledge of God in the present state, even as revealed in Christ; for this, when compared with the heavenly sight of him. is but like seeing a man that is gone by, whose back only is to be seen. God in Christ, as he is, even the fullest and brightest displays of his glory, grace, and goodness, are reserved to another state.

How can you open an old US Excelsior Stamford trunk?

I just did it in few minutes. Instead of trying to go through the key hole with various fine 'tools ", you need to look at the outside rimm as if it is a clock. At 5minutes and at 35 minutes , there are 2 metals parts that lock the mecanism. I used fine screwdrivers to lift the rim and proceded to get closer and closer to those metel parts. I just pushed the one at 5 minutes and did the same for the second one. Pouring a little bit of oil in the key hole BEFORE starting the main work, helped the mecanism to get loose. In half hour, i opened 2 old trunk! Et voila! Now I have to get the keys.......

How much is Cindy McCain worth?

It is hard to say, since her holdings in Hensley and Co., her Budweiser beer distributorship, are not known and the company currently seems undervalued. She may own a majority share of the company, and it grosses $300 million annually. The current market value of Hensley is approximately $250 million, but if it were valued like a .com company, it's value would be about 4 X annual gross revenue, which would make it worth $1.2 billion. The most conservative estimates say that she is worth around $100 million, and that is probably about right, considering that she could not just dump her stock and have it retain its value. However, through financial mergers/acquisitions, increased beer consumption, Hensley could become worth billions (like if John McCain becomes president and Budweiser suddenly becomes more of a symbol of America). In that case, she could become a billionaire ... almost as rich as John Kerry's wife. Who is John McCaine?

John Sidney McCain III (born August 29, 1936) is the senior United States Senator from Arizona and presidential nominee of the Republican Party in the 2008 United States presidential election. McCain graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1958. He became a naval aviator, flying ground-attack aircraft from aircraft carriers. During the Vietnam War, he nearly lost his life in the 1967 USS Forrestal fire. In October 1967, while on a bombing mission over Hanoi, he was shot down, badly injured, and captured by the North Vietnamese. He was a prisoner of war until 1973. McCain experienced episodes of torture, and refused an out-of-sequence early repatriation offer. His war wounds left him with lifelong physical limitations. He retired from the Navy as a captain in 1981, moved to Arizona, and entered politics. Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982, he served two terms, and was then elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, winning re-election easily in 1992, 1998, and 2004. While generally adhering to conservative principles, McCain at times has had a media reputation as a "maverick" for having disagreed with his party. After being investigated and largely exonerated in a political influence scandal of the 1980s as a member of the Keating Five, he made campaign finance reform one of his signature concerns, which eventually led to the passage of the McCain-Feingold Act in 2002. He is also known for his work towards restoring diplomatic relations with Vietnam in the 1990s, and for his belief that the war in Iraq should be fought to a successful conclusion. McCain has chaired the Senate Commerce Committee, has opposed spending that he considered to be pork barrel, and played a key role in alleviating a crisis over judicial nominations. McCain lost his bid for the Republican nomination in the 2000 presidential election to George W. Bush. He ran again for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, and gained enough delegates to become the party's presumptive nominee in March 2008. McCain was formally nominated at the 2008 Republican National Convention in September 2008, together with his chosen running mate from Alaska, Governor Sarah Palin.

Is John McCain family from Mississippi?

Yes, some of John McCain's relatives are from Mississippi. His paternal grandfather and paternal grandmother were from Mississippi. His maternal grandfather was also born in Mississippi. John McCain's great-great Grandfather was William Alexander McCain who owned a plantation called Teoc in Carroll County, MS. (Presently there is a community there by this name, Teoc.) The 1860 Slave Inhabitants "census" lists him with 52 slaves. Willliam Axlendar McCain joined Company I, 5th Mississippi Cavalry(CSA) in August 1863 when the unit was organized. His NARA military records is recorded under the name McCane and approximate age of 45. Records indicate that he was absent on 10 Feb 1864. During this time the 5th Mississippi Cavalry under General Chalmers was transferred to General Nathan B. Forrest's command. Wm McCain's records indicate he had deserted on that date and appeared on a list of Prisoners in Memphis on April 6, 1864. He signed an Oath of Amnesty and died in a hospital on 26 April 1864. William McCain's widow appears on the 1870 Carroll County census with a son named John S. This was the first John Sidney and the Senator is the John Sidney McCain III. Camp McCain military facility located near Grenada, MS is named after one of his family members---not sure if it was one who was a state senator. Univ. of Mississippi (i.e. Ole Miss), where the 1st debate is supposed to take place, has a McCain Hall and a McCain Plaza named for the family. So McCain will have the "home field" advantage for the debates. This link provides the a general ancestory of John McCain: http://www.wargs.com/political/mccain.html

Did John Travolta vote for Obama?

It is difficult to answer this question, since Travolta has not publicly discussed his voting choices. Some celebrities, both Republican and Democratic, are very public about who their presidential candidate is, and they will even campaign for that person. But Travolta has not actively campaigned for Mr. Obama, so we do not know whether he was ever a supporter of the president, or what he intends to do when it comes time to vote this time around.

Do alternative fuels really work?

Yes alternative fuels work great. For example bio-diesel is mixing diesel fuel with cooking oil. Works great when you buy the converter kit, but is costly at the current time due to low manufacturing. If you do not get cooking oil free from say a McDonalds or someplace like that it goes bout $8.00 per gallon. Check back in a few years and this might be cheaper than gas the way prices are going now.
