Netbooks are usually built in a way that doesn't allow for much upgrading. The only upgradeable components are usually the system RAM and the hard drive. Those can be upgraded by simply opening the bottom of the case and replacing the component with a faster or higher storage device.

Unfortunately, this is going to only have a very limited improvement on the operation of the netbook.

This can be a virus or something on the hard drive. The first thing i would do is use something like UBCD4WIN or AVG Rescue CD and scan for virus's. If both of those came up clean, i would then run a repair on the OS to replace all system files.

Buy A Windows 7 boot disk at a technology store near you, or, for that matter, anything with an electronics section, put it in the toshiba, and it should wipe the system and start fresh, Your Welcome :D.

it is because you do not have a good internet signal at your house but you can get a thing from vrizon phone company and you just plug it into your friends computer and it will have an icon that you hit conect with that and let it load if it does not work call the phone company and it should work then.

Refurbishing a window 7 laptop should take long and should be easy. All you would have to do is go into the settings and have everything restored to the old settings.

Zooming in or out on a Toshiba laptop is very easy to do. You can just use ctrl + or ctrl - to use the zoom feature for any page.

Acer is the best brand to do it cheaply.

You need to find a broken, budget machine. You can get one around 50$. If you do research by looking at pictures of motherboards, you can tell which are based on the same case and can use much better motherboards with standard MXM 2.1 type II graphics. The ODM model is useful to know, because it applies to the entire case and every model it is based off of, but on Ebay they aren't often listed like this.

I did it with an Acer 5315. I bought a 5720g motherboard and it can run a 9600m GT ddr3. I had to cut holes in the case for some ports and buy the graphics heatsink. The ODM model here is ICL50, and there are in fact more which use the same case such as ICW50, the AMD version, ICL70 is the 17" case for the same motherboard layout.

You really have to know what you're doing needless to say.

Its in fact easier for high end models, and you have more options for cards and less work to do, but then you are investing a lot more money. the Alienware m15x can be found with i3 CPU, Nvidia gt 240m and upgraded to AMD 6990m. The first step however after being a very good technician is really knowing the market and what is worth it.

Its certainly more interesting but much more difficult to mess with other rare brands and models like Acers. There are a few out there like the 8735g which use the same interface as the AMD 6970m etc and could potentially be upgraded a lot. Theres also a few gateways, like the nv73, nv74, nv78 series, but these are not necessarily upgradeable unless you know that they have a dedicated card already.

Clevo/ Sager laptops are meant to be upgraded, but you'll still have to pay a lot for one. Do research on anything before buying.

The best laptops around to upgrade are the MSI gx640, gt640 etc if you can find one for cheap.

But you said crap laptop. Yes the only way is to find broken Acer machines, cheap motherboards etc. At this point you are basically going into the repairing trade and might as well learn board level repair.

Usually laptop chargers aren't as expensive, but the way you state it, there might be internal damage to the wire. This may cause problems to be created to the computer and can pose a serious threat to your life. My advice, get a new charger, it's worth it more than a risk.

Yes, it's possible unless your router was configured to not allow to change settings for wireless connections (some routers have such option because of security considerations). Anyway you need to find out IP address for your router and start you favorite internet browser. You should put the IP address in the address bar and press Enter. It will bring you to the access page of your router. In order for you to access router's settings you need to know username and password for current administrator.

The M60 does not have a Micro SD slot. You can purchase an external USB card reader to do the job.

You can get a special fan stand which you can plug in to the wall or your laptop (I will add a link or two for this in the "Discuss" section) or anything through which air can pass easily.

The fan bases seem to expensive to me, so I suggest you experiment with household items, like rulers and books. This combination doesn't help much, but can be enough. Start out with a non-insolating surface, like a table or a book. Then lay something down along one or two edges of the laptop. This enables air to flow underneath and into the air intake more easily. Make sure that at least one edge (preferably two) are open for air flow.

Be creative! Just avoid anything sharp or wet. Also be careful with cold objects, like ice packs, since they collect condensation.
