How do you remove a Lexus RX300 headlight?
Remove the front wheel behind the headlight.
Remove the screws holding the fender liner in place, just behind and around the marker light.
Carefully, pull the liner away to expose what you'll need next.
You will now see two 10mm nuts that hold the outside of the headlamp assembly in place; remove those and the one at the front grille along with the Phillip's plastic bolt in the little grille and pull the assembly out.

First, disconnect the battery.
For each bulb, there is a twist off plastic cover located directly behind the burned out bulb, that you will need to remove.
The drivers side is easy enough to access without having to remove anything.
The passenger side is a bit different.
To access the passenger side headlight cover for removal, you will need to disconnect the windshield wiper fluid reservoir, but only the top screw that you can see next to the reservoir cap.
Once this little screw is removed, you can gently push the top of the reservoir towards the driver side of the car, exposing the back of the passenger side headlight, and allowing you to easily remove the twist off cover.
They only need to be twisted about an inch or 2, and then they pop right off.
At this point, take a good look at the spring that holds the bulb in.
Squeeze the two little spring handles that are holding the bulb in, and allow it to swing out of the way, making sure you pay close attention to how the spring fits around the bulb, and the position of the electrical connection.
The connection to the bulb must be placed back in, exactly as it was before, or the spring will not latch.
Carefully remove the bulb from the headlight assembly, and unplug it from the electrical connection (twist and pull out).
Quickly examine the bulb to make sure its not broken, with sharp edges that can cut you.
BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEW BULB: Practice learning how the bulb seats into the socket and spring using the old bulb.
Once you are satisfied that you know how the bulb goes in, go ahead and put in the new bulb, and snap the two handles of the spring back in the latch position.
Once the bulb is in, reinstall the twist on cover.
These covers are round with a large tab that sticks out to help you twist them off and on.
The large tab needs to be positioned at the bottom. Push the cover in and turn clockwise an inch or two, and it should be nice and snug.
Now move the washer fluid reservoir back into position, and secure it back down with the little screw you removed earlier.
The hard part is done.
Now simply remove the screw on cover from the drivers side, and repeat the installation of the new bulb.
When that is finished, reconnect the battery making sure the cables are fastened securely to the posts, red cable on + (POSITIVE) and black cable on - (NEG).

remove felt panel. start at bottom middle and pull out.
There are some plastic clips that will just pop out of metal part of car. you may have to pull hard to get eh first one to pop out. then go to the right and left popping out the remaining clips til the panel is off. set down pane;
next is upper plastic panel. start
in middle and pop panel from clips and go to left to right until the panel is almost off.
you should be able to see all the wires going to all
the bulbs on back of car.
find the one you want to replace and grab the plastic base and turn to the left. you may have to use some pliers to turn to left. . go counter clock wise to undo. turn counterclockwise
and pull out base.
now remove bulb by just pulling it straight out of base.
Take to store and by exact replacement bulb.
replace bulb but be careful not to touch bulb with your fingers as oil from your fingers can ruin the bulb.
return the bulb and base back to the location . be careful
to line up base to the proper tabs on the base (metal part of car). once base is pushed it turn it clockwise to seat it back in
reverse the process and replace plastic panel and then felt panel and you should be all done. line up clips to fit back in holes on metal part of car and push in to seat them.
now if only others would explain the process from beginning to end like this life would be much easier than someone just replying to buy bulb and replace it.

I just changed both bulbs this afternoon. It is not a difficult job. You will need a 10 mm socket wrench. You will need to remove the bolts of the fender liner inside the wheel well. There are two bolts that attach the liner to the bumper and three along the inside of the well. Once the bolts are removed you can pull the liner to the side. It is flexible and will bend just enough to let you slip your arm up the fender wall to the light socket. On the passanger side you will work blind from the inside of the of the well since there is an fluid cooler in the way. It may be a bit tricky to reinsert the bulb but just shy of removing the complete liner you can do it one handed. The drivers side is much easier as there is nothing in the way and you can reach directly up the wheel well. This is also how you can replace the side marker light bulbs. Good luck!
