The Miata horn is located 6-8" to the left of the hood lock assembly towards the passenger side. It is held by a single bolt that also grounds the horn for electrical signal. The horn is hidden behind the bumper. Remove this bolt and you will be able to remove the horn by reaching up inside the mouth of the car. There will be a single, black electrical spade connector that is removed.

Where is the crankshaft position sensor located on the 1999 Mazda miata?

Crankshaft position sensoer is on the right down side of the Crankshaft Pulley.

To advance the ignition to 14 degrees on '99. It's a matter to trick the ECU. How?, Repositioning the Crankshaft Position Sensor more upward. CPS is on the right down side of the Crankshaft Pulley. First, disconnect the CPS connector, remove the undercover, then remove the CPS bolt. Once out of the car proceed to enlarge the hole (bottom side) of the CPS bolt in order to get the upward reposition. Use portable Dremer to cut off ("bore") about 2-2.5mm from the integrated washer in the mentioned hole. Finally, install back the CPS having condider the following: Air gap between Pulley Plate teeths & CPS (Spec: 0.5-1.5 mm) and tightening torque of CPS bolt is 69.5-95.4 in-lbf. Past Specs were taken from the Miata'99 Workshop Manual.

After complete the installation. Use Timing light to check new timing. It should now oscillate between 14-16 degrees at idle instead of the factory oscillating 9-11 degrees."

How many degrees of timing does the 91 Mazda miata have?

10 degrees BTDC is stock. The car feels a little peppier at 12 or even 14 degrees (listen for pinging or run premium at 14). You have to jump the "gnd" and "ten" connectors with a paper clip when checking the timing (under the lid of the black "diagnostic" connector). You'll know you jumped the right two pins if you hear a slight idle change and the timing mark stops jumping around.

How do you get water out of frame in a Mazda Miata?

There are drain holes in the rocker ( I think that is what they are called ) panel beneath the door. Two on each side....these get clogged with debris (like leaves and dirt ) and normally water would just drain away.

To fix this you just need to unclog the holes and the water will gush out. I used a cheap pumpkin cutter but anything would work to open this hole up. I used to get wet floors in the car and could hear the water sloshing around.

Hope that this helps

Why does your 2002 miata CD player keep spitting out your CD's and displaying check on the display?

It might be caused by a dirty read head in the CD player. You could purchase CD player cleaning disk and try using it. I assume that you are trying to play regular music CDs and not MP3 encoded CDs that you burned on your computer. Most CD players before 2005 were not capable of playing MP3 format music files.

What causes a miata to shimmy at 70 mph?

It is something that happens in pretty much all the NA's and NB's (first and second generations). I have noticed it more so at 65, along with many other people. It is nothing to be concerned about.

It is possible for 1999-2000 headlight sockets to melt, especially when owners attempt to use higher wattage bulbs. They can be replaced by searching for "H4 wiring harnesses", which cost about $4 USD each.

How do you compress rear brake calipers on a Mazda miata 1991?

4 mm Allen screw under 14 mm capNext to the bracket that holds the parking brake cable to the caliper, there is a bolt with a 14 mm head that needs to be removed. This is a cap that covers the adjusting screw and should have a small copper washer. Insert a 4 mm Allen wrench into the hole you just uncovered, and turn the splined screw to retract the piston. After you change the pads and have the caliper mounted securely and the rotor secured with a lug nut or two, screw that Allen screw back in until the pads touch the rotor. Then back it off about 1/3 turn. If the splined screw comes out with your Allen wrench, don't worry; just put it back in. Finally, replace the 14 mm cap.

Where is the fuel pump on a 2002 Mazda miata?

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. It is accessed by removing a cover on top of the tank. The cover is under the carpet on the rear deck. Since you are dealing with gasoline (highly flammable) I strongly recommend you get a shop manual. It will have detailed instructions on removal and replacement of the pump. My favorite is the "Mazda Miata 1.8 Liter Enthusiasts Shop Manual". You can find it on this list: http://www.miata.net/faq/miata_publications.html It's not a difficult job, but it's important to do it correctly.
