Where is the location of the PCV valve 3.0 Ltr Mazda Tribute?

Pcv valve on a 3.0L V6 Mazda tribute is buried under the intake manifold. It is approximately under the throttle valve. It is NOT inserted into a rubber grommet in the rocker cover. It is screwed into the lower intake manifold. Use a deep 7/8" 12 point socket to twist it 90 degrees to the left to remove it and reverse this to put it in. Be sure to replace the PCV valve when replacing the spark plugs since all needs to have the intake manifold removed to get to them.

Normally located on top of the valve cover.

AnswerMost are inserted into a rubber grommet in the rocker cover.

Why your 2001 Mazda tribute CD player stop working?

There could be many reasons. But the ones I am familiar with are:

If you get an error displayed, try one of the CD cleaners that has a brush on the CD to clean the lens.

If there is no power, check the fuse. You will have to find the correct fuse in the owner's manual.

If it is only temporary or intermittent:

1. When a warm CD gets fogged up in cold weather.

2. When there is dirt or scratches on the CD.

3. When a user-created CDR or CDR/W CD is used that is not compatiable.

other than that, you will have to take it Mazda.

What Size of wiper blades on 2005 Mazda tribute?

driver side - 20"

Passenger - 18"

rear - 8-10"

Note: You need to pay attention to wiper arm attachment in addition to size. Always buy wipers by referencing make, model and year of vehicle to find specific wiper part numbers rather than just length. See sources and related links below for more information.

The first thing that you need to check will be the freon level in the system and work your way from there.............

What to spray on a seized emergency brake cable?

Spraying it on the cable probably won't help. Take off the rear wheels and something like spray WD40 on the handbrake cable linkages. You could also give the drum a few smacks with a hammer - the vibration can free up a stuck linkage/cable. Might be a good idea to place a small block of wood against the drum and hit that with the hammer to avoid denting things.

How do you change shocks on 2003 Mazda tribute?

The Mazda tribute has rear shocks only the front are struts. So to replace the rear shocks you must remove the interior trim panels in the rear to gain access to the top retaining nut on the shocks. Remove the top nut using two wrenches. One to hold the stem of the shock using the "flats" and the other to turn the retaining nut. Use penatrating oil to help remove the nut if it is rusty. Remove the lower bolts on the bottom of the shock using an 18 mm wrench. Heat and penatrating oil will help if the nut and bolt are rusty. Remove the shock and install the new shock. Do not cut the plastic retainer on the new shock until it is installed. A good chiltons manual will give you directions on how to remove the trim pieces.

Does the AWD on the Mazda tribute always run or just when the light on the dash is on?

The AWD is always on, but not fully engaged. It watches the wheel speeds on all 4 wheels and then if it see's any difference it immediately engages all 4 wheels. The dash button/light is to "Lock" the AWD into full time mode. This is good in say heavy snow or off road.

The only problem is that the Tribute/Escape/Mariner all "EAT" gas in the AWD models. The 2WD/Front wheel drive models are much better on gas and with the Traction control system do almost as well as the AWD without the GAS cost.

My 2001 Tribute running well, fully tuned, gets no better than 13-15/city and 19-20 /HWY. compared to the 2wd which gets an average of 17-19/City and 26-28/HWY. Then again it is a larger 4Cyl vs the 3.0 DOHC/V6 in the AWD.

Maxda mpv license plate bulb change?

The removal is really easy. Note from the comments above that the fragile side of these light houses is the right side. The strong side is the left side..... this is the side that does NOT break. You don't want to pull down on the right side you want to pull down on the left side. Get an L shaped metal object and put it under the left side of the bulb cover unit after the unit is pushed to the right side. Pull down on the L shaped metal 'tool'. I used vice grips and two small L shaped hex wrenches. After removing the unit I beefed up the right side with some of that GOOP stuff and reinforced it with a piece of metal. Piece of cake. Don't buy into ... this will always break because it is just not true.... solve the puzzle. Namaste.

How do you replace the alternator on a 2002 Mazda Tribute?

MAZDA Tribute Alternator replacement V6
This applies to the Mazda Tributes. To change the alternator; the factory procedure at the dealership says to drop the sub-frame from under the front of the vehicle. Then everything is accessible. This is not necessary.
1. Remove the right front tire
2. Remove dust pan from right front
3. Remove the brake caliper and caliper bracket
4. Remove the 2 bolts from the half shaft support bracket
5. Remove the half shaft axle assembly
6. Remove the serpentine belt
7. Remove the 3 bolts holding the alternator in place
8. Remove the 3 bolts holding the alternator mounting bracket
9. Remove the alternator mounting bracket
10. Remove the electrical connection on the alternator.
11. The studs that are spot welded on the half shaft bracket will try to keep you from being able to remove the alternator. Put the nuts back on the studs until they are flush with the end. This will protect the threads while you take a straight bar long enough to get past the strut and knock out both studs from the bracket. They are only spot welded on the bracket.
The alternator now has enough room by rotating and dropping down to remove through the opening.
When re-installing the studs put lock washers on the back side and an O-ring on the front of them all the way up to the bracket so they will stay in place while you line up the axle bracket and get the nuts started.
You are on your way to Getting 'ER Done".. !

At what mileage should the timing belt be replaced on a 2003 Mazda Tribute?

If the vehicle has the 3.0L V6 engine, need not worry - it has a timing chain rather than a belt. If the vehicle has the 2.0L 4-cyl engine, the manufacturer recommends that the timing belt be replaced every 90,000 miles.

What would cause the anti-lock brakes to kick in every time you stop on a 2002 Mazda Tribute with new pads and rotors?

There is a known ABS issue with Mazda Tributes in that year. Do a search for Mazda Tribute recalls and it should give a description. You should be able to bring it to a dealer to have the issue addressed at no charge.

Are there detail pictures or drawings showing where the spark plugs are in a 2004 Mazda Tribute and how to replace them?

If its a v-6, plugs 4,5,6,are located under a plastic cover that covers the coils for each cylinder. This is what is called a coil on plug system. This cover is right in front between the radiator and the engine. 3 8-mm nuts or bolts should be holding this cover on. Remove the 8-mm bolt that holds the coil down, remove the coil and plug is down inside the socket. The plugs for cylinders 1,2,3, are under the intake that will have to be removed in order to get to them. lousy design!!!
