Because of the complexity of this kind of job, it is strongly suggested that you buy a repair manual that explains it in detail. You need to loosen the axle nut with the car on the ground, raise the car, remove the wheel, unbolt the lower ball joint, tie rod end stud, strut lower through bolts, remove the brake caliper, then you can tap the CV shaft stud back and pull the spindle assembly free of the CV shaft. The driver side CV shaft can then be popped out of the transmission. The passenger side CV shaft has a carrier bearing with three bolts holding the shaft to the bearing. Do not try to take the bracket off the engine, it is not necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal.

You need to tee in at the fuel filter connection, there is no schrader valve.

This can be caused by a number of things, the most likely being a failure in the oxygen sensor or it's wiring, like a broken or corroded harness.

A broken hose, most likely.

According to the 2001 Mercury Villager Owner Guide :

The fuel pump shut off switch ( inertia switch ) is in the

drivers foot well , behind the kick panel ( there is an

access hole )

It's in the low pressure line running along the passenger side of the engine compartment. If there is a connection there with a nut, it's inside the tube there. If the line has no connection, it is crimped in and that section has to be cut out and replaced with a repair kit, or a new line installed.

This is covered in your owners manual. The fuel pump shut-off switch is located in the left kick panel just below the hood release handle. There is an opening in the panel to allow access.

For the 1993 model, it is mounted between the steering column and the heater control panel. I know that on my 95 villager I have a dash mounted control box under the drivers legs....there are 2 boxes.......one for the hazards and one for the flasher control. I know this because I changed the hazard/flasher box expecting both the signals and hazards back but got only hazards. I am now on the hunt for the other relay at a more reasonable price then the $95 dollars I have been quoted

This is normally done by a dealer or a locksmith that has the correct equipment.

First remove the codder pin from the axle shaft. Then slide the lock ring off, and remove the 32mm nut with a breaker bar. Break the wheel lug nuts loose and lift the car. Remove the wheel.

If you are talking about the center bolt for the front drive axle it is commonly a 36 or 32 mm socket. You can get a set of 36,34,32,30mm from a parts store on a lending program. It will take a large impact gun or breaker bar to braek loose.

Freon is added to the lower pressure line port. It is the only port a refill kit will fit. I suggest taking it to a shop that does A/C repair if you do not know that already.

There is no such part that I am aware of.

Check the Mercury Villager manual to see if there is a special procedure for cleaning the fuel injector. If not, you can purchase cleaner. You can also have the injectors cleaned by a mechanic or an oil change company.

I have a 2000 and I tried to get around replacing the knock sensor. I replaced fuel injectors, wires, plugs, distributor and some other parts. all this helped, but van still lose power and surges after engine hot. I been told after all this that the knock sensor retards timing and causes the fuel not to burn as it should. it not only senses knock, but is a protective device for the engine. I just purchased one on eBay for $65 and will install later this week. should have replaced it when I first got the code.

Look on the bottom or rear of the radiator or just remove the lower radiator hose

It's located on the driver's side between the engine and the wheel well, kind of beneath the brake fluid reservoir. It runs parallel with the bumper, bolting to the side of the engine.

It is in limp mode because there is a serious failure in either the transmission or the control module.

If you don't have experience doing this I suggest you take it to a glass shop, or you could do more harm than good.

Regular fuel (87) is fine.

under the back of the vehicle . There is a hex nut that has a plastic flip up cover

on it in the floor of the cargo area that you use the lug wrench on to crank the

spare tire down ( counterclockwise to lower the spare , keep the weight of the

tire on the cable when cranking up or down so the cable does not get

twisted ) and the jack is in a storage compartment that has a removable plastic

panel , in the cargo area , on the passenger side
