Though research has been conducted and not entirely understood still it seems women mainly miscarriage only girls or only boys varying from person to person. i miscarried at 12 weeks and my baby was about 3 inches or so...it looked almost like a normal baby except much smaller and its ears wernt in the right spot yet and it had transparent skin. but it had eyes, ears. mouth, nose, fingers, toes, knuckles...etc.

Miscarriage in the first trimester is usually due to something wrong with the fetus so Mother Nature stops it. Later in the pregnancy it can be a virus and many other things. Then there's induced miscarriage aka abortion where you terminate the pregnancy using medicine or surgery. Then there's serious drug use, excessive drinking, physical violence, accidents etc. The only ones safe for the woman are the first 2, natural miscarriage and abortion.

Don't forget that any calculated due date is only an approximation. 50% of babies are born within one week either side of the calculated date, 50% outside that limit.

Anyway, by talking to a doctor you can have piece of mind that your body is healthy. Meanwhile, make sure you are properly hydrated with water before exercise to help prevent muscle cramping. Be mindful of your uterine pain and chart it as it happens. (there was a joke that some prominent Italian actress had a miscarriage- she piled up her Isetta ( a sub-Volkswagen style (Baby Car) that , by the way used a motorcycle engine- and was rotated in back gear by a battery driven motor for reversing- fortunately not a long-duration task.

Go straight to the Early Pregnancy Unit at your local hospital or to A&E, so they can check it is all ok, I had this and misscarried but it is not neccessarily the same thing as it could be your body getting used to the pregnancy and the muscles stretching as your baby grows.. good luck (:

I am a 22 year old. I am the "rh factor" I have A- blood type and I need the Rhogam injection while pregnant and after an abortion, miscarriage, etc. I have had one abortion in December 2005. I miscarried my second in June 2006. I am sharing my experience with women because I feel it's important for us to share these types of experiences. Experiencing a miscarriage can be an extremely scary, emotional, stressful time. This is my miscarriage story: I never felt pregnant through this entire pregnancy. My first pregnancy, I felt pregnancy symptoms VERY STRONGLY! ie. morning sickness, tender breasts, etc. (DAYS OF SPOTTING/BLEEDING) (DAY 1) - I was 6 weeks pregnant when I began to spot. This happened just before going to bed after going to the bathroom when I wiped. This was a brown mucus type of "old blood" and there was very little of it. (DAY 2) - I didn't think much of the spotting until the next morning when the spotting continued and was getting to be more like my period became a red blood and the amount increased. (DAY 3) - I went to the emergency room. At this point, I was feeling the stress, fear of loss, and was anxious to find out what was happening. I was also very nervous. I was finally examined by a doctor approximately 6 hours after I had registered in the ER. She explained that bleeding while pregnant is a very common thing and 50% of women that come in have no need for concern they will carry and deliver a healthy baby. However, not every woman is so luckily, some indeed will miscarry. There is nothing they can do to prevent the miscarriage from occuring. She got an order for blood work to check my blood type and levels and an ultrasound for the next day. The blood work showed A- and I got a shot of Rhogam. The levels appeared to be normal (I think 1500 hcg). (DAY 4) - 6.3 weeks. I went for my ultrasound (regular and transvaginal). They found everything to be in FANTASTIC shape (baby was a good size everything looked "right". I saw the baby's heartbeat (133bpm). Everything was where it was supposed to be. Except they couldn't see the cause of bleeding. The person preforming the ultrasound told me to watch things and if they get worse to go the the ER A.S.A.P. I then went to the ER to speak with the doctor about the results. She said that the result looked good. The baby was alive, good size, good heartbeat. But she did say that the risk of miscarriage was still there. She also said that no physical activity would affect the pregnancy, so I didn't need bed rest. I was to keep doing what I was doing. (DAY 5 to 10) - I continued to bleed everyday. It bled heavier. The colour was bright red and near day 9-10 I experienced some mid-sized clots (Canadian dime sized) cramping began around day 6-10 and got severe at times. The pain was never exruiating. (DAY 11) - I go back to the ER because of the heavy bleeding and now clots. I get blood work done and urine sample. I see a doctor. She examines my cervix which appeared closed. She gets the results of the blood work. My hcg dropped to 25. She told me that I indeed had been experiencing a miscarriage. I admit that deep in my heart I already knew so the news didn't come as a shock. My body was telling me prior to the baby's heartbeat stopping by not showing me any of the symptoms I had during my first pregnancy. She gave me the number of a ob to call if the bleeding got worse ("filling a pad an hour"). She said it's normal to bleed for around two weeks. They didn't do an ultrasound this time. They just went with the blood levels. Since this was an early pregnancy she said that I would pass things naturally. So no D&C would be required, unless I experienced complications (heavier bleeding). As well, since I already received the rhogam injection at 6.3 weeks, even though I miscarried I didn't need another because it is effective for 12 weeks (this was according to my DR.) (DAY 12) - The bleeding has slowed down considerably and I am back to spotting again. I am not even filling a pad today. Cramps are still present I wish all of you the very best. A.B. If it lasts very long go see your doctor. He may suggest a D&C if the miscarriage wasn't complete.

i am three weeks pregnant and ai have been spotting light brown to a medium brown on and off for about a week n a half. i am 16 and i smoke alot but have slowed down and im scared i may have miscarried. any suggestions?.

All addictions are harmful. Smoking is typically harder to quit than drinking alcohol and even, some say, than doing drugs. The harm each does depends a lot on how heavy the use is and for how long. Also, there are many kinds of harm besides the damage that the user does to his or her own body. I tend to opt for Alcohol as being the most harmful besides the harm that cigarettes do to the body and the odd accidental fire that is started as a result. I have never heard of driving under the influence of tobacco. Smokers don't become aggressive as a result of their bad habit, neither do they become just plain mean. people have been murdered as a direct result of alcohol abuse ETC ETC.

I had a miscarriage about a month ago. First I started spotting after a pelvic exam which I believe is perfectly normal and does not mean you're going to have a miscarriage. Instead of the spotting getting better after a few days, it got worse, turning from brown to red and getting heavier. After about 4 days of this red, heavier bleeding (not as heavy as a period, but clumpy and heavier than spotting), I started having cramps one night after work (Election Night, to be exact). The cramps came in waves and became more intense as the night went on. The bleeding was full of large clots and I kept feeling like I had to move my bowels and I did so a few times. Several hours later, what felt like a very large blood clot came out (twice within a few minutes) and then the cramps stopped and that was it. I also had a couple of blood tests during the days when I was spotting and bleeding and my hormone levels were not increasing very much.

I believe the it is most common for a miscarriage to occur between the 6th and 13th weeks of pregnancy.

Some pregnancy tests say that they can let you know as soon as a couple days before your period is due but most say to take them a few days after a missed period. Conception usually occurs 14 days from the first day of your last period and a woman's cycle on average is 28 days so two weeks after conception would be the day that you would begin your period if you are a perfectly average woman which many are not. I would wait a couple days since many pregnancies can begin and end and you don't even know because it occurs before your cycle was going to begin. so for example you could get a false positive by taking a home test to early. I would wait 5 to 7 days after a missed period and then still if you get a negative and no period see your doctor for a blood test those a much more accurate.

Whether pregnant or not, 6 weeks is approximately 1.5 months.
