Hello,

I am very happy with my creative zen vison M 60GB that I got a few years ago. I even bought a playdock Z500 station for it and it is perfect. However, the other day, I had my mp3 on the dock listened to music and turned it off. The next day, it wouldn't play music but boot in recovery mode. I tried every option none work and when I plug it into my laptop the harddri've says it's empty and is only 50mb.

I believe the harddri've is broken (there is a Seagate Lyrion ST7602DE ST8 series inside) but this hardri've no longer exists and I couldn't find one. The creative support is not available as the device is too old... I would like to know which hard dri've is compatible with the player so that I can continue to use my mp3 player with its dock as I cannot find any players now with more than 30GB and a docking station...

I was told I should ask creative support to replace the hard disk or ask them directly which hard dri've would be compatible in order to change it, however the website doesn't allow to contact creative directly as the device is too old...

If someone knows what are the compatible hard dri've (with same or better capacity) that I can replace mine with or if someone thinks the problem comes from somewhere else, please help

Please note I am using windows 7 but I tried reloading the firmware with windows XP and the installation crashed with both. Also the firmware on my player is the latest version (.2.02e (europe)) and it will not re-install.

You don't say whether speaker built in or free-standing. Problem is either speaker, amp or wiring between. Assuming stereo, put speaker on other channel. If fault changes over = speaker or wiring at fault. If it doesn't = amp at fault. Assuming fault changed over, check plugs and connections and meter wires for continuity. Speaker should have nominal 4, 8 or 16 ohms across the terminals

Which LED are you reffering to? There are numerous LED's on the Technics SL1210MK2 turntable:

1) Pitch Control LED (Green) x1

2) 33/45 RPM LED (Red) x2

3) Strobe LED (Red) x4

It's very rare to have these LED's burn out. However, if you are looking to change them, you will need to purchase the exact same rating LED for each component. You can obtain parts for the 1200s by going to 1200s.com - and going to the Technics model that suits your need. A list of all the available parts will be displayed.

If your refering to the pop-up light, also referred to the stylus-light. That is just a simple bulb. If you go to the 1200s.com site and in their search engine type "PL1" - the item will be displayed.

Pioneer no longer produce the CDJ800, most shops don't have them in stock anymore either. It has been replaced by the CDJ850 which currently retails at roughly £1500 for a pair.

A used pair of CDJ800s (MkII) would cost around £700-800 depending on condition.

I have recently purchased 2 10" Kicker Comp 8-ohm subs for the simple reason that I already had an amp that matched the power rating for the subs at a 4-ohm load (amps rating). The amp will put out about 800w @ 2-ohm and 400w @ 4-ohm load (rms values). By running 2 single voice coil 8-ohm subs wired in parallel you are effectively cutting the impedance in half (8 + 8 = 4-ohm in parallel). To do this you simply connect the positive terminal of one sub to the positive of the other sub and then to the positive of the speaker output on the amp. Same with the negatives, sub to sub then to amp. Had I purchased the more common 4-ohm single voice coil subs my load to the amp would have been 2-ohms and too much power would be getting to the subs (100 watts more rms power than the peak power the subs could handle). I did this because of the space I had available and also because the Kicker Comp has performed well for me in the past as an entry-level woofer.

use a program like Audacity to (if needed) take 1 song out of a series of songs in a single file then use movie maker (C:/Program Files/Movie Maker/moviemk [comes with computer i think]) to put in videos and audio. set audio levels to:

That would be 2 megabytes which in today's world isn't very much. Instead of MB, do you mean GB which is gigabytes? 2 gigabytes is 2048 megabytes.

When referring to bits, we are discussing digital audio. 16 bits is a sampling or playback rate. This is analogous to a film playing back at 16 frames per second versus 8 frames per second. Therefore you have more resolution, or detail.

Update: Actually, the above is not really correct: the number of bits (8, 16, 24...) refer to the sample quantization, the resolution/size of each sample. A sample represents the amplitude of the sound at a given moment, with 8bits you can only represent 256 levels, whereas 16bits gives you 66536 levels, that is better resolution per sample (just like the difference on an image with 256 colors, 8bits, versus 66536 colors, 16bits... or then also 'truecolor'/16Million colors for 24bits).

On the other hand, the sampling rate is measured in hertz and specifies the number of samples per second, with common values being 11, 22, 44 Khz (thousand hertz).

Sample size (bits) and sample rate (hertz) are the two parameters that determine the quality of audio... and the bigger the better.
