What chemicals are in atomic bomb?

Uranium, neutron initiator and plutonium is used for the atomic bomb. The uranium slides down a funnel when the bomb makes contact with the ground and hits the plutonium. The uranium and plutonium are exacaly like magnets but instead of sliding to each other they repel and ram out of the funnel into two different types of neutron initiator. When they connect they explode, sending toxic gases into the atmosphere as well as a big explosion. Sending a mushroom cloud in the air and getting people sick.

Does Russia have better nuclear weapons than the US?

Up until the early 20th century yes, then the Soviet Union and the U.S. were tied overall, each accelerating in different areas at different times. Currently the U.S. has the second largest active military, if you include reserves we have the largest. We have a fleet that would meet it's match if the nations ranked 14-2 in naval power combined their forces. We have the largest and most advanced air force (this was debateable until the F-22 entered mass production and with the arrival of the F-35 we will be generations ahead of Russian tech). Our marines are more experienced, use much better weapons (the standard issue M4 is being replaced with a nearly identical weapon, the Barrett REC7, with a much higher stopping power) and vehicles, and deploy much faster. The U.S. Army uses the M1A2 Abrams MBT which makes every soviet made vehicle look like a Prius' retarded cousin. The only area where Russia maintains their advantage is in nuclear weapons which are becomming more and more obsolete. Our great advances in weaponry stems from the fact that Russia hasn't had a large arms build up since the 1970s.

Does Iran want a nuclear war?

It is unknown at this point whether Iran does or doesn't have nuclear weapons at its disposal.

Iran is a big issue for watchdogs these days. It is a topic of extreme caution. If they ever do get to posses them, the weapons have to be transported in order to launch them and it is a process. The location of Iran makes this process a very complicated one to attack on the main us but certain American targets in other places of the world could be threaten. Right now the swine flu should be more worry some that Iran launchiung a nuclear attack on the US but is something to keep an eye for.

-It is more likely that Iran will sell supplies for making nuclear weapons than that they will use them any time soon.

Who is known as the father of Indian atomic bomb?

Homi Jehangir Bhabha, the first chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India (1944), is regarded as the father of India's nuclear program.

What are the military uses of nuclear energy?

  • nuclear explosives: bombs, warheads, landmines, artillery shells, demolitions, etc.
  • nuclear powered submarines
  • nuclear powered surface ships: aircraft carriers, destroyers, ice breakers, etc.
  • portable reactors to generate electricity and/or heat
Many other ideas have been proposed (e.g. nuclear powered bombers, nuclear explosion pumped x-ray LASERs) but found impractical for various reasons and never actually implemented.

Are there any living hiroshima survivors?

Sure, there would be. They would be from 70-95 ish now, but the Japanese tend to have longer life spans. Like all elderly in this age range, many die every day, so it wont be long before any survivor will be a rarity.

Could humans survive nuclear war?

It depends on how large of a nuclear war. If India should have a nuclear war with China or Pakistan, the human race would probably survive it. However, if the US had exchanged nukes with the USSR during the Cold War, there might have been no safe place in the world from the radioactive fallout.

What was a result of H-bomb test in the 1950s?

Both the US and USSR had deliverable nuclear weapons in the 10+ megaton range by 1955.

Why did the Soviet Union place missiles in cuba?

It was a direct threat to the United States - and a power move to show they could place missles within 90 miles of their border.

There are actually 5 possible reasons:

1. To Bargain With The USA-Krushchev may have put them there so that he had something against the USA and good agree on removing them in return for some American concessions.

2. To Test The USA-The missiles could have been put there to see how string the Americans really were, whether they would back off or face up. The USSR may have wanted to test out Kennedy

3. To Trap The USA-The missiles could've been a trap and Krushchev may have wanted the Americans to find them and be drawn into a nuclear war. He didn't even try to hide them.

4. To Defend Cuba-The missiles could have been their to genuinely defend Cuba

5. To Get The Upper Hand In The Arms Race-The missiles were put there so that the Soviet Union was at least level with the USA in the Arms Race. With their missiles in Cuba and America's missiles in Turkey, it was less likely the USA would ever launch a 'first strike' against the USSR.

Who invented the nucler bomb?

This event occurred in the 1960s It was a cat and mouse game played between the US and the Soviet Union over nuclear missiles?

this was called the Cuban missile crisis held in the Bay of Pigs during the Kennedy administration. The Cuban Missile Crisis (The Bay of Pigs was a CIA-backed invasion of Cuba by Cubans from the US. Totally different time and event.)

How did the Cuban missile crisis threaten the world with a nuclear war?

There wasn't a literal threat. The Russians, (Whom we didn't like very much because of their communism) were sending nuclear missiles to Cuba, which is very close to the USA, and had a somewhat crazy guy as president. But, the US created a blockade to keep any ships from getting into Cuba. But, Russia's navy went full steam ahead towards the Blockade... Then Finally at the last moment, The Soviets turned back. The world was at peace again.

So, To answer the question... We didn't like communism, and the world new that. Russia was communist. Them sending Nuclear weaponry to a crazy guy, made us worried about a World War 3. Therefore that was the threat.

President Truman's primary motive for using nuclear weapons against Japan was to?

Force Japan to surrender without invading Japan itself which would have resulted in many allied soldiers being killed.

Why did the US government want to remove soviet missiles in cuba?

For the same reason the USSR government wanted the US missiles in Turkey removed.

They were seen as a threat and a provocation.

Both the US and USSR got the missiles removed that they wanted removed (but the US wanted to pretend removing the missiles in Turkey had no connection to removing the missiles in Cuba for political reasons, and Khrushchev allowed this).

Who led the nation that developed the first hydrogen bomb?

That depends to some extent on precisely what you mean by "led." Robert Oppenheimer was the scientific head of the project; the military head of the project (and Oppenheimer's clear superior in the organizational chart) was General Leslie Groves.

Under Oppenheimer, the scientists were arranged into various teams, each headed by a different scientist. (At one time, one person was the head of two different teams ... he joked that, since the secrecy rules prevented unauthorized communication between teams, he needed to seek approval in order to talk to himself.)
