The air pump supplies the catayltic converter with air required to burn 'unburned fuel' as required. Teh EMS will turn it on as needed.

You need to buy a new outside temp sensor ($15) It's located between the Radiator and the Bumper of the car (Looking from underneath the car)

I hear it is the crankshaft position sensor (CPS) on the car, we have an Aurora in the shop now with this problem.

to remove the front plugs, first remove the plastic cover that is next to the small heat sink. then remove the next plastic panel. the plugs have no wires, but have boots around them. the first 3 are forward facing and are relatively easy to remove. the other 3 are in the rear and are significantly more difficult to access. Then use a plug wrench to remove plugs and replace with new plugs.

I just did this about a month ago. I found it best to take the radiator out of the car, it is much easier to access the bolts (4) of the alternator. You will need to get under the car and pull the lower shroud back to get to the bolt underneath. It took me approx. 3 hours.

Stop by your local Library and rent a Haynes or Chilton Manual. You can find the location in there. You can also stop by any Auto Zone Store and they can show you on the computer or on your car. You can log on to autozone.com and the site can sometimes give you a picture or an idea of where the part is located. Free. Just don't buy any electrical parts from Auto Zone. Bad quality. Peace.

The cylinder order from the front of the engine is left to right 2-4-6-8. So #6 is 2nd from the right on the front side of the engine.

The fuse box is located under the hood, on the left side of the engine looking at the engine from the front of the car. It has a red positive access point to jump the car to help identify the box. It also has two unlock symbols on the box. There is another fuse box located under the back seat by the battery. You can pull up on the seat from the front of it and it pops right off.

It is on the firewall on the front passenger side of the car right above the exhaust plate and rack a pinon it is a black plastic round piece with a tube running down from it

The air pump is located just in front of the drivers side wheel, you have to get to it from underneath the car, or remove plastic inner fender ahead of wheel. A common problem on these cars, but also check the 2 check valves that are piped to this pump, there is one on each side of the motor.

There is air in the system or there is an overheat problem. The main reasons for this type of coolant loss are: An air lock. The pressure cap has failed. The head gasket is blown. The thermostat has failed in the closed position. Inspect the rubber seals in the cap and discard and replace the cap as necessary. Turn on the ignition and put the heater controls to HOT. Refill the system. Run the engine, check for loss. If not OK, switch off and let the engine cool. With a cool engine fill the reservoir right up and leave the cap off. Switch on engine and look for bubbles in reservoir. Bubbles should clear in a few seconds. If revving the engine produces more bubbles, headgasket has failed. Do not leave the engine running longer than necessary. Beware, the water will get hot, expand and spill out. If previous tests fail to show the fault, remove the thermostat and place in pan of water. Heat the water, the thermostat should open wide before the water boils.

I read this also in my owners manual for my '97. But I was able to squeeze my hand in and change the bulb without removing the headlight. I changed both bulbs this way and I do not have small hands. Good luck!

This question was asked and answered earlier, so please search for a more complete answer. You need to peel the liner from the trunk lid, reach in to access the bulbs. The bulbs are bayonet base type.

Follow the lower radiator hose on the back of the motor. It is in front of the water pump.

The diagnostic port on a 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora is located below the dash on the driver's side. It is just to the right of the steering column.

Located under hood passanger side right behind the head light in a little 5X5 plastic black box, it has the Fan Fuse 60amp and 2 relays in it and a few other fuses

The third relay (actually #1) is located on the firewall near the wiper motor. Almost in the middle of the firewall.

Relay #1 comes on when the air conditioner is running, or when the engine coolant temp reaches a set temperature (229 degrees F I think). This puts both fans in series, running them at low speed. At a higher temperature (239 degrees F I think) or when transmission temp reaches 304, the #2 and #3 relays come on in addition to #1 putting the fans in parallel running them both at high speed.

Both fans run together always. Either both off or both on at slow or high speed.

if one fan is running but not the other, there is a problem with the fan or wiring.

On the drivers side in front of the cross member. You have to remove the black plastic cover to get to it. It faces the front of the car.

have the ball joints checked soon, can be dangerous. Had that problem on my 02 when still under warranty(5yr/60K mile) and the dealer replaced the upper bearings on the front struts. Still running OK. I had the same problem with my 2001 Aurora 4.0. Diagnosis was both front springs were broken and had to be replaced. Not a cheap repair (~$CAD 700.00) but totally unsafe to put off.
